Greetings everyone ~

I had the fortune of picking up a gently used P45 today from my local gun shop. The pistol itself is ergonomically a dream -- it fits my hand well, shot well, and feels 'just right' almost all the way around. Two years ago, I had a PM9 but was forced to sell it and I knew I'd always want another Kahr. I couldn't resist it for the price, so it came home with me.

I got it with the spare mag and fairly bright Meprolight night sights. My impression was this pistol was carried lots and shot little. I ran just under a hundred rounds through it today, consisting of a variety of Federal FMJ, Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber, and Winchester Ranger. The only malfunction I experienced was a few FTE's; when I looked, the fired casing was getting stuck at an angle during extraction and disappeared when I swapped magazines, so I'm not sure what the exact issue is. I'll have to run a few more hundred rounds through it, but so far, so good. The night sights do need a slight nudge as I was shooting slightly right, but the groupings were absolutely acceptable and bound to get better (I hope).

The recoil was a bit more stout than I am accustomed to, but it is not a significant issue for me. I also need to relearn the trigger, as I am used to H&K light LEM and 1911 triggers. This trigger reminds me of a really good, smooth revolver trigger. I need more work on it for sure.

This is hopefully going to be a summer carry pistol, so I am now on the hunt for good leather which will hug it close to my body. I'm not a big fan of IWB holsters, so a quality OWB holster is high on my list.

It's nice to be back on this forum. Pics, I know, are obligatory and I will post them on my next outing. Looking forward to contributing more on this fine pistol.

ur stating thatu need to rlearn thetrigger also tells me to not mess with moving the sights"yet". More rounds willprbably bring ur sho groups over. Wecome back and keep us posted.

alittle more stout, PORT IT and enjoy !!1

For the extraction issue, maybe consider doing a full disassembly of the slide and seeing if there is any gunk in the extractor mechanism. Clean out the striker channel, too, while you're at it. You might want to wait a few days and order a Wolff's 5 lb striker spring to go in it. That will lighten the trigger pull just a bit. A lot of us here have done that to our guns.

The other possibility is that it needs a new outer recoil spring, which you could get from Wolff's at the same time. (They make all of the Kahr springs.)

I'd given up hope of ever hearing from you again riceboy. Glad you found your way back to the fold.

Give it time, you'll come to love that 45.

Thanks for the warm welcome back and the help with figuring out the teething issues. I have always loved the .45, and the rip and snort of this one reminds me why.

Bawanna, you're right. It was just a matter of time.

I, too, just picked up a new to me P45, all black. Made the decision after shooting a P9 for a year, loving it and deciding I need another .45. Bought a Baby Eagle....too big/heavy. So my buddy decided he needed it more than I so we're trading. Comes with a Rosen IWB holster, but I'll need some good OWB leather as well. Anyone have any suggestions?

ACCURAT, I kinda like Mitch Rosens quick snap OWB Holster. It is quick on off and really hugs the body very well. Just slide the two wide spaced snaps behind and over your belt and snap in place. It rides up high and tight and with your shirt tail out will conceal rather well provide your shirt isn't too ttight.
