Hi, new to forum, but not new to Kahrs. Picked up my new PM40 today and after a once over, clean and lube I headed to the range. First off, the feel of the weapon in the hand was superb. (like any other Kahr). I am used to the short pinky hangin off grip, so that is no issue. I trained this way with my G27. So away we went. Loaded up 6 rds of Federal American Eagle 180g FMJ and put them down range. All 6 went with no issue. I counted the rounds, then I noticed the slide wasn't locked back. Ok, maybe I miscounted so pointing down range I squeezed the trigger and nothing it was empty. Racked the slide and it didn't lock back. Locked it back using the slide release and dropped the mag. Checked inside chamber and then the mag. Holy crap the bottom front of the follower was gone. Since I don't like the mag with the extension, I just swapped followers. Next 30 rds ran with no issues. Observation: recoil and muzzle flip no different from G27 that is 5 oz heavier and way fatter. Controlable and a pleasure to shoot. Next I loaded up 6 of Federal 180g HST, LEO, JHPs. had FTE on 4th round in mag. Cleared and fired last round. reloaded with same and the same deal. All in all not a bad outing but not the best either. Got a ways to go until the PM 40 is broke in so I will not judge unfairly. The follower pissed me off, but the FTEs were no biggy. I'll take along a different JHP next time along with the HSTs. IMO... Nice piece.. In a Kydex IWB (PJ Holster) it disappears.

FWIW I dry cycled the slide 1000 times and then broke it down for a thorough cleaning and lube before I went to the range. These Kahrs are tight right out of the box and as you stated they do need some break in or is it better said as "wear in". I too have the G27 and it is one of my favorite pistols. However the CM9 is much more consealable and it is a pleasure to shoot especially for it's size like the 27.

Stick with it man I think the CM is going to be a great pistoli for both of us...

the last thing I want to tell any person is that sometimes it can be shooter error. Not saying ur it eithe,r but a 40 calkahr is a tgotal handfull to shoot as u wellknow. sometimes FTEs are brought about from being tired and the grip changes. BROJO, IMO u need more rounds down range for sure to get the gun broke in some more, the busted follower, well no explanaation. Kahr will send u another one and hopefully it willbe the lat u will ever n eed. I would for think I would want a spare around in case to. It has happened before. Give the gun more rounds, u might visit the kahr tech section and hit on thier kahr lube chart it is a dandy and readup on the propper pepping of ur kahr. There might be some tips there to herlp u along. If in doubt change to anothger defesne round brand to see how it reacts. Sometimes after a few hundred rounds, that what maybe didn't work at first now feed and works fine.

Holy crap the bottom front of the follower was gone.Yep! Seems to be pretty common with PM40 and CM40 Kahrs. At least with both of mine, the bottom of the feed ramp was hitting the follower. If you call them at (508)795-3919 (or better yet, email them at service@kahr.com), Kahr will usually be quick to send you a replacement follower. Before I trimmed my feed ramp, I asked for spares and just replaced them at the range as soon as they broke.
