Is anyone using the Recluse double mag wallet? Looks like a nifty way to carry a few spare mags when attire won't allow the use of OWB mag pouches. If so, what are your thoughts on it?

It would probably be uncomfortable in a back pocket. I would use it in either the weak side front pocket or in a cargo pocket. It is smaller than most double mag carriers I've seen.

Looks interesting. Just don't put the mags in facing each other like in the pic. Also, just looking at it, it would seem that it would be a bit fiddly getting the magazines out in a hurry with the backing being the same height as the magazines.

Funny you should ask... just got one last week and am still experimenting with it.

I use it for p380 mags

Impressions so far...

1. Good construction.
2. Nice stiff leather.
3. The mags secure the best when facing eachother as shown. The rubbery middle insert (secured with glue) grabs the rounded front of the mag. The flat back of the mag rides best facing out where the leather is flat.
4. I use it with 2 extended mags. The +1 plastic base plate sticks slightly above the leather. The flush mags with the metal base plate will be below the leather but the sharp edge of the base plate will likely put a hole in your pocket over time.
5. It is no more uncomfortable to have in a back pocket than a fat wallet.
6. I'm practicing reloading from the weak side back pocket and so far I am happy with the access and speed.

Hope that helps.

So you have to practice which way to turn the mag to stick it into the gun depending upon which side you grab the mag out of. Assuming you're going to be reloading under stress, do you think that will be easy?

Do I think it will be easy?

Well its not ideal, but for me I think the merits outway this issue. Besides, the mag can be inserted in the carrier the other way but it will just be a bit looser. During practice I seem to naturally grab the back one first and do not have to turn the mag. Could I grab the other mag during the heat of the moment? Sure. But I can carry this twin mag pouch every day in my weak side back pocket, no matter what I'm wearing. Dress pants, jeans, or shorts its all the same. For me, consistency of carry location and ease of access trumps having to maybe flip the mag. Also, it conceals naturally without any worry of printing or someone brushing against a weak side hip carry.

What kind of baseplates do you have on your mags? If the metal ones, do you experience any comfort issues sitting on them?
