Got my new CM9 out to the range today. Followed the forum recommended cleaning and break in. Gun ran flawless through 100 rounds. Ran a mix of Rem White Box, Federal, Blazer Al, and a mag of Crit Defence. All perfect!

I was disappointed that Kahr has decided to not send out a poly case with the guns anymore. A plain white box feels cheap for a higher-end pistol IMHO.

You didn't get a case? I got my CM9 3 weeks ago and it came with the standard Kahr polymer case. A white box is very Ruger-like, and I agree, not something a gun should be sold in.

Just so you know, Kahr is not alone in going to cardboard boxes. My recently purchased S&W 638 came in a cardboard box.

Funny, though. My new Taurus 738 TCP 380 that I bought for <$200 came in a 5 1/2" square plastic box.

Nope, no case. I was a little freaked out when it arrived since it was an internet order. I thought maybe they pulled a fast one on me and sent out a referb at new price. I called up the internet dealer and was told nope, it is new and Kahr has been doing that for a few weeks on the CM9.

They figured since the Ruger LC9 now comes in a cardboard box, Kahr went to it too since it is their biggest competition. This was their opinion only. I think it's a little cheap. The instructions printed in 2012 still list the case as standard equip. Love the gun though!:D

They list the case on their website for $12 + S&H. Not that it makes you feel any better, but for under $20 you could always order one. I still say it should come with a case. Just another way to fatten the bottom line. Great pistol though. I just finished polishing my barrel. Stll debating on having the slide done like JFootin's.

I purchased two cm9's from a local gun show 2 weeks ago. one for me and one for the wife. "we had previously rented a variety of guns at a local shooting range and we liked the cm9"s the best." Anyway long story short one new kahr came with a poly box, the other plain white box. I thought it a little weird at the time, good information on this forum.

Mine came n a poly box, andto be truthful I have no idea where it is even at. Probbly the sae place asmy glock bax which Ihave no clue where it is at either. My PM9 is my carry gun and once hoe it never seen the inside of that poly box again..

I am sureit is not a cost thing either,

Mine came in a poly box that now sits empty on my shelf. My CM9 has never been back in it since I brought it home. At the time I thought maybe they could reduce the price a few bucks. Evidently they've reduced their cost a few bucks instead. Multiply the $2-4 the box costs by the number of guns they sell...it's likely a pretty significant number.

Anyone want to send me their poly box that they "never use?" :D

Edit: Nevermind. Looks like (on the Kahr website picture anyway) it's not a locking box. FWIW, I bought my Kahr about 6 weeks ago and it came in cardboard box.

I bought 2 CM9s 2 weeks ago. One came from LGS and the other from Bud's. The LGS had plastic and the Bud's had cardboard. Any chance that the big sellers are skipping the plastic, because they get them a bit cheaper. Maybe that is one reason how Bud's and others can have such low pricing.

I bought my CM9 from Davidson's 04/09/12. It came in a cardboard box - never had this happen before. ALL my other pistols (Glocks, CZs, Berettas, Colts, S&Ws, and Rugers) came in polymer cases (including those I bought through Davidson's). I thought it a little unusual, but didn't mind, since at times I've had polymer cases coming out my ears. I keep them only until the warranty expires - then "goodbye".

The CM9 is not a cheap pistol, although certainly budget priced. But it is NOT a "higher end" pistol either.

A couple of years ago I bought a Bersa 380 and though the cardboard box was odd but understandable since it was cheap. After that, everything else had a plastic box including my CM9 bought a month ago from davidson's. They end up on the top shelf of my closet anyways...

You might have a point. I got my J-frame from Bud's and it was in a cardboard box.

I only use the poly case for multi gun shooting at the range. You can always pick up an inexpensive pistol box at the sportsman shops. Some are less than $10 and are about on line to what the gun manufacturers give you.
So otherwise, yes i agree, the CM9 is just perfect. My all time favorite for carry and shooting.
