Will a 1911 holster fit a T40? I am still stuck on finding a T40 :w00t: and wonder if my holster will fit.

Buds has a T40 with standard sights listed for $669, personally I really like the Novak sights on the wife's new T9.

I saw that and was wondering if I will also need to buy new holster?

The 1911 seems to be pretty close to Kahr dimensions on many other things. Unless it were a tight molded Kydex I don't know that wouldn't, even then it may still. Worst case, you get it and have to get a new holster later, and use a cheaper one that has a little more forgiveness in the fit until the good stuff arrives.

He can look for a holster while the T is off getting painted green?
I don't have a good answer for you either Jeepster but I do know that my K40 and my 1911's fit perfectly in a couple rigs. My ankle rig would work for either.
I'd guess as jlott mentioned that a leather rig would most likely work. I just got nothing solid to back that up with.
Perhaps some of the lucky T owners around here will break out their 1911 leather and give us first hand take it to the bank information.
PS- Having to buy another holster I suspect will not be a deal breaker for our man Jeepster. Am I right?

I don't have a 1911 holster but I DO have several Browning Hi-Power holsters and the BHP is similar in shape and dimension. On my BHP holsters, the T9 and T40 fit into the holster without any issues on width or on the distance from the top of the slide to the bottom of the trigger guard. The one holster where the T9 and T40 do not fit is where the leather retention strap won't reach around the frame/slide. Apparently the trigger guard of the T9 and T40 is bigger than the one on the BHP.
I hope this helps.

You don't have a 1911?:o Is that allowed?
Apparently we need to work on this matter post haste. All them lovely 03's should have a nice mil spec 1911 to hang out with.

Au Contraire weedhopper. If you had a 1911 you'd be able to give my good buddy jeepster some helpful information. You have all the ingredients except the 1911?
By helping you acquire the 1911 I'm helping you both.
Sorry jeepster, I'll be quiet and remain in my cubicle for the rest of the day.
I'm so ashamed of my self.
Hello my name is bawanna and I'm a thread hijacker.

course I as a loyal fourm abiding member would never hijack a thread:blah:

Show me a thread or person that has not jacked a thread here. Actually, the HP thing may help too. If memory serves the HP and 1911 are pretty close in dimensions as well.

Since we're already hijacked, I'll put in my .02 as well. I have the new T9, but I also do not have any 1911's. I also own nothing in .45 ACP. If I were ever to get a 1911 it would be a 10mm.

I'm not sure on the 1911 holster, but if you do have to get a new one for your T40, I would recommend getting the holster as an open ended version that should accept the other members of the family. ie K40, T40, .....
I'm having an Alessi Body Guard made for my k40 that will also accept my T40 based on Tom's recommendation.

My holsters are open ended now, just hoping to save some money by being able to re use one of them IF I GET A T40 ;)

Since the belt is a major part of the retention in those IWB's you should be good to go. You may want to rotate the 1911 in just to keep the leather from collapsing over time. I picked up a LH IWB for a 1911 used and it does ok with my T40. Not glove tight, but ok for casual carrying.

Isn't it possible to wet and remold a 1911 holster to fit the T40 more exactly? Surely, James Dean or someone else experienced with leather holster making can chime in.

I don't think he's giving up his 1911's, he's hoping to multi task his holsters. I believe they will work but I got nothing to back that up with.
Kahrdriver64 sort of backs it up so there's hope.

Unlike my sorry driveling yes dear if you say so self.
Well I did recently impersonate a man up, more on that wonderful thing in a few days I hope.
Mandatory pictures of course and before and after the paint shop and porting if it ain't too much trouble and your ok with that of course.

Excellent for you and Bronco!
I would be curious how the new ones shoot out of the box. I bought my T used off gbroker and it had some issues when I got it. It stove piped alot and spent brass came out with a big dent in the side. I'm sure that's why the previous owner sold it. Getting it tuned up is still a work in progress for me.

That's interesting since the K's do not do it. So far I've taken one coil off the extractor spring and stopped the stove pipes. I did notice a while back the Cylinder and Slide include extractor tensioning as part of the package for the Kahrs. I wonder what that entails.

I posted a range writeup on the wife's new T9, no failures/jams/stovepipes in the first 200 rounds. After the 110 round mark the mags were not locking the slide back consistently on the last round but the gun functioned fine. I'm planning on feeding it another 200-300 rounds this weekend.
I picked up 4000 rounds of 9mm yesterday, 3000 S&B 115 gr and 1000 Aguila 124 gr. I know the S&B works great in all my 9mm, and the Aguila is plentiful so I got a case to see how it runs.

I've had it both ways with them too. Couple times really fast (usually old surplus stuff), couple times it took a long time to get out the door.
I think the gun and ammo hoarding is well under way and everyone is struggling to keep up.
Course this doesn't help even a little bit when a person is waiting for their next toy.
I've recently realized that business doesn't care about impatience or your love or your suffering while waiting. That doesn't help much either.

that the rounds arenot powerful enough to work the slide lock yet, as maybe the recoil sprigns hav enot taken their designed set.
A good way to test that out is to shoot some defense ammo which is hotter than fmj ammo. If it locks it back OK then consider the gun just needed more rounds out of it.
Load two rounds fire and see it if locks, do it again and again and again.
My bet it is just strong recoil springs not set in yet..

what they do is shorten the extractor pin about .20 and walla "extractor tensioning" is done. If it ain't broke, IMO then don't fix it
what u did kahrdriver is basically IMO the same thing, just that most of the posts I have read about this, most seem to remove gently about .10 to.20 off the end of the extractor rod. What u did solved ur needs, so behapy about that.
The dented casing if u reload, even are still resieable, if u don't reload I guess my question is why fokk with it.. Some ha ve also modifed the ejector to get the results ur looks for to.

I think you are over reacting a bit. (we need a smiley for drama queen) I understand that it is irritating that it is slow to ship, but until the wrong gun or a damaged gun shows up they haven't screwed up your order.

I thought that might be the case, but we haven't made back it to the range yet. The ammo for the first 100 rounds was blazer brass, which is hotter than the second 100 rounds of WWB when the slide wasn't locking.

Maybe....but last gun was advertised it came with night sights showed up without.......and their response was "either take it or send it back" with an attitude.:31: What is annoying is they could care less.
