I am a very happy PM9 owner. I think I want a K9, but went to gun show today and looked at a CW40 and CW45. I'm torn here. I have two 40s (G23 & m&p pro). I do not own a .45.

I have considered selling out all the 40s to have 9mm and .45 only, but can't make that commitment yet. I keep hearing the 40 bucks a lot. For those that shoot the CW40 and the CW45, what do you think?

I haven't shot the CW40 or CW45 but I have shot a PM45, which is smaller and lighter than the CW45. I shot 230 gr. standard pressure FMJ's and 185 gr. +P's and thought they were both manageable in that gun. Ive also shot the P40 with both standard pressure and +P rounds (even the hottest rounds out there...DoubleTap) and they were all manageable in the P40 which is obviously analogous to the CW40. Either way you're going to have more recoils in any Kahr than a G23 or full size M&P due to lighter weights in the Kahr's.

I know everyone has their own opinion on caliber but I'd stick with a CW40 if I had to chose. 1 more round in the chamber and it's slimmer than any of the Kahr .45's. IMO the .40 has better terminal ballistics as well. Like I said, everyone has their own opinion and everyone's entitled to them.

Here's a YouTube video I found today comparing recoil across all the CW line of Kahr's.

Ballistics101.com lists the velocities and muzzle energies of almost all handgun calibers across almost all ammo brands so you can do your own comparisons on ballistics between .40's and .45's.

Corbon ammo also has a YouTube channel that shows slow motion ballistics gelatin testing for their ammo. I thought it was pretty telling to see the temporary cavities compared across different calibers of the same manufacturer.

I saw that today as well. I'm leaning toward the 40 just because I like my M&P for a nightstand gun with 165 or 155 gr. but a FNH in .45 as a bedside gun isn't a bad idea either. :-)

Could have bought a CW 40 or 45 today for $344 or a P40 black for $615

Good video. Can't go wrong with 9mm, 40 or 45
