Daniel Defense M4 V5-300 AAC Blackout. I've got some Troy battle sights ready and waiting and will be saving my pennies for a serious scope and suppressor.

She sure is pretty! The gun that is...

I'm interested to see how 300-AAC shoots in comparison to 5.56 (accuracy and recoil that is).

Is 300AAC a .308" diameter round? You would have a lot of versatility in reloading reloading it since there are so many .308" bullets on the market.

SWEET!

GUNS, Guns guns - and I really need a truck - LOL!

Getting trigger jobs, SRT kits installed and Bar-Sto / Storm Lake
ported barrels made for my twin Sig Sauers (P239/357 & P220/45)

that will have to do for now...

What's the ammo situation like for that caliber? Bet you won't be picking it up at Wallyworld.

I bet I won't either. So far, I've seen about 5 different brands of ammo for the gun (Remington, CMMG, GUNN, Corbon, and Hornady). The Remington UMC looks like it will be $12 for 20. Then the 220 gr. subsonic stuff is more like $22 -30. I'll probably reload it eventually.

Yes, it is.

I'm a little slow offering my congranulations, I felt the need to do some research since I knew absolutely nothing about this caliber. I do so hate to look dumb in front of my cyber bride.

It looks very appealing to me, a fix if you will for all the things I don't like about 223.

Sort of an American 7.62x39 only better in many respects.

Ammo reportedly isn't tough to fine, at least any worse than other stuff times being what they are, hoarders don't cha know.

Hopefully it will stay popular and ammo and stuff will only get better.

I've thought of the 6.8 alot but didn't see any correlation to the two and know little about it either so too early to know if one has an advantage over the other.

I'm happy for you Melissa.

Thanks, sugar! One thing I like about it is that it can use the same mags as .223/5.56. Next, it is very suppressor friendly with 220 gr. subsonic rounds. I might want to shoot quietly some time. LOL! Here's a video of Hickok45 shooting it suppressed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5ALp8-d3dQ

I finally found some ammo at a GA guns store. It was $130 shipped for 200 rounds. That was with free shipping. Looks like I'll need to reload for this gun.

ur the 57th person to have made that statement. I am now starting to think there could be some truth to that. Just sayin. Actually don't like trains. last time I was on a train I was 12 years old and ouorlittle leagut took us to the chicago cugs game at Wrigley field. 250 miles train ride.

It rained out the game, and I blame the damn train for that. I never have forgave them either. Just sayun.

I thought it was ajoke at first with the train tract sh!t but now I hear more and more of my so called "fireds" mublling something like, " the ol fokker missed his train 50 years ago and is still looking for it" jUST SAYIN.

Looks like I'll need to reload for this gun.

If there are possible kits to convert 5.56/.223 brass to 300AAC, that should be a piece of cake.

As I stated before, .308 caliber bullets are quite plentiful in the reloading market. If you already reload .308, 300 mag, or something else of the same diameter, you're already halfway there.

I can see this caliber being a serious sledgehammer for hogs. I'm a bit biased to the faster 6.8 SPC though.

Still, that's a sweet rifle and I bet you'll enjoy it.

Melissa, I'm jealous! That 300AAC seems to be a great round plus I really like those Daniel Defense rifles. Looking forward to your report.

Let us know how you like the terminal ballistics of that round. FYI, you can reload with trimmed and reformed 5.56 brass. That is one of the major selling points of this caliber. Also magazine capacity remains the same as 5.56, no mag mods needed (unlike all the other boutique calibers), in fact the only thing one needs to change between 5.56 and .300 is the bbl. Most find it much easier to just change the upper though. I like what i have read so far, but lack the time to properly play with this round. I'll stay with an AK for the time being, funds and availability and all. This is definitely one thing I want to keep an eye on.

Before shooting it for the first time, I put on a VLTOR stock, a Troy HK style micro battlesight on the front, and the rear sight from my m&P 15-22. I like having the elevation adjustment on the rear sight. Also, I'll be putting on a Magpul MOE grip plus, an Aimpoint PRO, and a suppressor.

Man, I love this gun. The recoil is just a little bit more than 5.56, but not much. It's very easy on the shoulder. My first shot hit directly in the center of the target, but I kept shooting. :)

Looks really nice being all set up. From what I've been told where I shoot, .300 Blackout is about the best rifle-caliber for an AR for some of the reasons that you've already pointed out, like the ability to shoot subsonic and yet also have considerably more energy than a 5.56 mm round, depending on the load.

Enjoy it!

Great looking weapon! It sucks when the first shot is dead center... you can only get worse! At least that's MY experience... YMMV!

From Hickok45's videos it's a sweet-shooting squirrel/varmint gun... especially with the suppressor!:D
