Is there anything I can do to reduce felt recoil on my cw40? I listed it for sale or trade but I really want to keep this gun.
I know I have a flinch shooting this gun and the rear of the grip is irritating my hand, I fired 100 rounds yesterday and I can still feel that grip in my hand today.

As Jocko says so often magna-port the fokker.
The Kahr shop also has a ported barrel for sale, at least they had it a week ago.

If you reload, you could also lighten up the loads to soften the recoil.

I've entertained the idea of porting...I can handle the flip and don't mind the flash...LOL
Where are some places to get it done? How are the ones from the Kahr shop? Has anyone ported a PM40/45 or MK40?

Magna port.com is the only plce to get a porting job that IMO works. I have had them done for over 25+ years by them, super work, no refinishing necessary and oh yes it works.
nice thing just send the slide kand barrel regular mail and get in back in 10 days. They invented it, they IMO perfected it. IMO u will certainly notice a differenc ein a aported kahr 40 ove rone not ported. 9mm, maybe for some is not needed as it is a pleasant caliber toshoot the 40 in kahrs being so small andlight is very noticeable. A ported 40 kahr is not gonna be like a 9mm, so get that out of ur mind. You buy a hand cannon, u get a hand cannon. I think Jeepster has some ported kahrs he might be ablewto pull up for you. My portedf PM9 is to be foundin jocko's custom PM9 thread..
y K9 is ported, My G19 is Ported, My model 60 is ported, My lawn mower is ported: Just sayin

I saw the ported barrels, but do they really work, anybody know how much magna porting costs? Will putting bike inner tubing on the grip help with the abrasive rear grip?

When I first started shooting mine I noticed a lot of pain in my palm, the base of my thumb and the top of my thumb knuckle. After installing a hogue handall and changing my grip angle clockwise really helped.I shot 150 rounds sunday and had no pain what so ever.

Stopped by gander mountain to pick up 200 rounds of 9mm to break in the cw9 , found a limbsaver slip on grip that someone trimmed to fit a smaller frame gun, my handall jr is on the way but I will use it for my cw9, the limb saver feels good, gonna pick up some 40 from wally world and see if it works, if it dont I will return it.

Jocko, I went to 2 local walmarts and they had zero 9mm, I mean none, they had plenty of .40 though. I usualy get 9mm tula for $9.97 a box, they didnt have anything in 9mm, I remember last year it was the same deal, no 9mm, plenty of .40, im kind of not wanting to get rid of my cw40, at least I will be able to find ammo to shoot it.
I paid $15 a box for Speer lawman at gander mountain, its raining now so im waiting for that to stop so I can get out and run the cw9.

I bought some 9mm tula from our local wal mart. my K9 doesnot like um, so I willnot buy anymore. never tried torun them through my 2 PM9. Steel cased berdan primered, I should pay theextra few bucks and buy american. some guns get away with that tul ammo. they ven had itin 380 and Isaid no way will I put my P380 through that agony.

What is with Walmart purposely not stocking enough ammo? It seems obvious that they are very reluctant about doing it at all.

I have quizzedmy local store about why they sometimes don'thave alot of 9mm ammo and their comment was it allcomes out of thehome office as towhat we get and how much. She told me if I wanted 10 caes of wwb 9mm ammo, shecould not guarantee me that.
My store back in the early obama days had nadda in 9mm ammo and when they did it was liite dto s 6 boes at a time, as they told me backthen that GM out of Terre hauyte was goingaorund to allthe wal mart stores and buy up all their wwb 9 ammo and sellingthemin there store for about 10 bucks over wal marts price. anyway that is what they told me. My wife works atour local wal mart so I get 10% off of anything including ammo which for me brings 100 pak of wwb down to 20 bucks.

If you get a rubber grip that should take care of the irritating rear grip and possibly help with the recoil.

Did you have to do any cutting on the grip? Got a pic?

Rent a .44 magnum, fire a couple cylinders of mag ammo, then shoot the .40, it will feel like a kittycat.

Youch, that must be a handful. I get tired of shooting my S&W 629 6" .44 magnum with full lug barrel after 2 or 3 cylinders of hot loaded magnum rounds, (I can shoot it all day with .44 special) I can't even imagine how something that lightweight would hammer you.
As far as the ported barrel vs Magna Porting, I bet the Magna Port works better, but I myself would get the ported barrel so I could return it to stock condition in case I needed to sell it. Some people will not buy a ported weapon since they've been warned that if there is a struggle for the gun and it goes off, you could have burning gasses escaping into your face.
I would love to get my 629 Magna Ported though.

What you don't like that 329? If the price is right, I happen to be longing for a 44 mag. Just a thought.

Didn't say I don't like it......just that you REALLY know you shot a 44 Magnum, the Magnaport "PRO PORT" contains muzzle flip, but it don't help you trying to hold onto a " Rodeo Bull" trying to leave the gate. It pushs back like you were shooting a bazoka from a slingshot.

Cool pics guys, apparently, someone bought this limbsaver, trimmed it, didnt like it and returned it so it came "pre trimmed", I can email pics if some one will post them for me.
I ordered a handall jr for my cw40, im gonna wait until it gets here and try both grips, if the limvsaver works well I will keep it, if not im going to return it and get another handall jr.

I was hoping. We all know I have a fondness for cannons, especially the 44 mag. Oh well.

Decado, the .40 barks hard its a high pressure round that generates high velocitys with medium to heavy bullet weights. Add in the intolerance some have for recoil and you got a pocket monster. Try lighter bullet weights,or try a 9mm , being sensitive to recoil is a natural response, nothing to be ashamed of.

I agree with your grip choice as that will do the most for your recoil control. I thank y'all for posting up the magnaport info and may now have to send mine out for that work. I plan, at some point to send my EDC Khar to Robar's for some custom work (just because it's ) so the porting would need to happen first.
Funny thing is, I don't mind the recoil of my CW40 (more/longer grip) and the cheese grater back strap is okay with me too. I will get Robars stippling done cause it looks and feels good, but mines fine as is.
After carrying 45acp for all those years, I find I like the power of the 40S&W round better than a 9mm...
That said I've been carrying the P380 for most of this year.
