I finally got the test done and the blog updated. I know several (Jocko) of you wanted me to do the test (Jocko). I also tested Powrball and the standard Corbon JHP loads, but have not had the chance finish editing up the video and writing up the blog.
So for now you can enjoy the DPX test. http://mousegunaddict.blogspot.com/2012/05/corbon-dpx-380-auto-test.html

Thanks! Your tests and clear documentation of the results are of great value to us as we try to decide what ammo to buy and use in our SD weapons. Cudos to you! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::yo:

Nice job!
Keep in mind that when we developed the DPX line of ammunition, there was no .380 or .32 caliber handgun bullets in existense then. We initially started with the 9mm, 40, and 45 auto, then expanded to 38 Spl, 357 Mag etc. It wasn't until a few years later that we had the inclination to try it in .380 caliber. We worked with Barnes Bullet Co. on a new projectile and tried as we might, we could get the perfect expansion we wanted along with deeper penetration. We could get one or the other but not both. We settled on recovered diameters of almost double diameter. This is/was unheard of with the .380 caliber. Some loads expanded some, but none expanded this much. We were willing to sacrifice the deeper penetration for the superior expansion, keeping in mind that this is generally a very close range caliber. We have no doubt that 2 or 3 hits at very close range will make quite a difference in the bad guys attitude towards us.
Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the response Mike. Now I'm getting yammering from the P-32 crowd to test the .32 DPX. I just did a test on the the old style .32 JHP last month. http://mousegunaddict.blogspot.com/2012/04/32-acp-jhp-shoot-out.html Now the word is out that there is a new bullet in the Corbon .32 JHP out in the marketplace so folks want me to test that too.
Your point is really quite valid about terminal performance trade offs. No matter how good or bad certain aspects of terminal performance may be, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of anything I've tested so far.
Excellent work as always! I'm excited to read about my choice for the P380, the Corbon powerball.
1073 fps as you said in your DPX video ain't too shabby from the mouse gun!

I will take the expansion of the 380 over penetration... If my minds erves me well the 380 dpx was actually tested in two kel teck 380's. As their test guns. as back then the kt was themost popular 380 on themarket.

Taking a little break this week for some family R&R. I queued up two 9mm tests to post this week and will be back to wrap up the Corbon PowRball and 90 grain JHP tests next week.
