View Full Version : PM9 or P380 or Both
I was at the Gun Show today and there was a P380 for sale for $560.00, I thought about buying it and then I decided not too because the PM9 is only slightly larger and a 9mm. Why spend the money for a Pistol that will only be in a drawer. So my question is: Are both guns needed for CCW or would you just pick (1), and which one?
I was at Walley World today just as they put out 9mm and purchased 500 hundred rounds just under $100, limit is two but the sales person did Not care.:confused::84:

Both are ideal but if I had to choose one I'd go for the PM9.

I own um both, they are great guns, that being said, I carry my PM9 about 99% of the tme and hardly every pick up the P380. It is a super scaled down version part for part of the PM9 and top quality and IMO the best shooting 380 I have ever had . I actually shoot it better than my PM9 for some damn reason.
I cannot find any 380 ammo for range use anywhere and to pay $20 for a box of 380,Ijust willnot do it. Iused to enjoy shooting my 380's when ammo was priced right, but now I just don'tahve that urge to waste the money on shooting my 380.
So for me, go with the PM9 and you will never look back.

luka buddy,If you can afford both of `em,go for it.I don`t know if .380 ammo is available in your area but it is scarce here. Not to mention outrageously expensive. However,if you are simply looking for a great carry gun,by all means go for the PM9. I had a Bersa .380 that I really liked but when ammo got so hard to find,I traded it in for my PM9.I`ve never regretted my decision. The 9mm offers more power and ammunition is readily available and much less expensive.:)

Before you pay $560 for a 380 look at a .40 or.45.
After my PM9 I got carried away and bought a CW40 and then a CW45..just can't stop myself.. :2eek:
They all shoot and conceal well and, like they say, you can't have too many.

I was kind of in the same boat a couple months ago, but not with the P380. I had the Sig P238 but traded it and some ammo for a PM9. My thinking? The PM9 is almost the same size and yep, it's a 9mm. I'm quite pleased with it. If you have to choose only one, go with the PM9. You won't regret it.

I agree, sometimes the 9 is "to big" to conceal depending on situation.

in speedo's. So far where ever I can stick my 380 lcp or kahr, I can stick my PM9. It is on the brink of maybe getting to big but as it is now. I carry it 24/7 in jeans. Not a fast draw position , nor is it for an 380 either but the nice thing for me is that I don't have to dress to carry. It's all about firepower for me and the cost of 380 ammo has just totally run me right out of town. I wonder how they even sell 380 guns even with no ammo to sell. Right next to gander mts 380 ammo section is a display of "vaseline". now why is that:israel:
I willsay the Kahr P380 is the finest made 380 pocket rocket with all the bells and whistes on it, that I have ever owned. and certainly the most accurate of any 380 that I have ever shot..So yup if u can afford um, buiy um both, once home, they don't eat a thing..
I noticed for you P380 kahr fans, that they have introduced a 380 stainless steel guilde rod (recoil rod) for $26.95.

I used to carry my Colt Mustang .380 untill I went to a friends house and we went shooting in his back yard. I shot at a 55 gallon drum with federal hydra shocks and they bounced off. I then loaded up some FMJ and the went in but not out the other side.
Forget the .380 and get the PM9 and a couple cases of 9mm ammo.

a 380 for me anyways is at the very bottom of what I would want to call a BUG. There are some great little 380's out there and 380 ammo has come leaps and bounds over what was out there 10 years ago even but it is still a 380. Certainly better than a rock but never better than a 9mm and the kahr PM9 IMO is very very pocketable.
With the price of 380 ammo and availability of 380 also, I would tend to shy away form buying one, I own two 380 (lcp and kahr P380), I gave one t o my son and the P380 now just sits at home . I use dto like shooting my P380 for it was very accurate but not for the price of 380 ammo today.
Just give me the ol tried and true 9mm and if it fits in my pocket, I feel good to go...
All that beng said though, If I cannot for some reaosn carry my 9mm PM9, my P380 will ride with me instead..

I have both the PM9 and the P380… for me, the PM9 is just about the largest size I’ll carry as a “pocket pistol”. Even though the P380 is only slightly smaller, it is small enough that I don’t really even notice it in my pocket and the little bit of size difference makes a big difference to me in carry-ability.
If you can swing it, go with both… you will definitely find occasions where the PM9 is just too big for certain dress and the P380 gets carried.

I agree with most people so far.....if you can afford 2 then 2 is a great answer. If you can only afford one the 9mm is in my opinion a better choice. Ammo is easier to get and easier to afford. The PM9 is a sweet gun and will serve you well. If you want a .380 then the P380 is the nicest .380 I have ever held.

I had the same dilemma. My answer is both. The PM9 is my primary carry. I use a don Hume H-715 IWB holster. http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=35 (http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=35)
For the P380 I use a wallet holster form Pocketholsters.com. or a Desantis Nemisis pocket holster. http://www.pocketholsters.com/Kahr_Arms_Pocket_Wallet_Holste/kahr_arms_pocket_wallet_holste.html (http://www.pocketholsters.com/Kahr_Arms_Pocket_Wallet_Holste/kahr_arms_pocket_wallet_holste.html)
Sometimes I’ll carry both. Sometimes because of conditions or dress I can only carry the P380.
Good Luck with your decision. :)
