Got the new PM9 dialed in and past the break in. Shoots well!
While shooting, I would only load the mag with 6 rounds. Now, I want to try the 6+1 route. Is there anything to watch for as far as malfunctions or loading properly? Any issues come to mind?

I lock the slide back and load the magazine, chamber with slide release or slingshot. The remove the mag and add another round like normal. The mag will take a little more effort to seat with the extra round.
You don't want to just drop a round in the chamber, not good for the extractor but you probably already know that.
I usually don't add the plus one myself. I fill the mag to capacity and load as is.
If it was a primary stand alone gun I'd probably top load. I do so at the range just to insure it works as it should.

I put one in the magazine then slingshot it in, then load the magazine back up. I like carrying as many as I can.
My PM9 will slingshot good even if I go slow, as long as there is only one or two rounds in the magazine.
They still feed good with the full load, no problems. I have over 2k rounds through my PM9.

When you top off the mag, make sure the top round is fully to the rear and give the backside of the mag ONE good rap against the heel of your other hand... making assumptions there... to help get all rounds to the rear. Doing this should insure at least TWO rounds firing correctly.
The first one is most important because if it isn't in the chamber already, it may not get there. Loading the chamber is where we see most malfunctions and you don't always have time to use two hands to rack the slide and you aren't at your best at doing things like that with adrenaline surges during fight or flight situations.
