Hello all,

I have been reading your forums for a while now and I finally pulled the trigger and bought a CM9 through an online store. I now would like to ask for some advice and help from all you seasoned veterans. I got the gun Wednesday and took it to the range Friday and today (Sunday). First 200 rounds no issues except the slide failed to lock twice (second and third) mag. I did however have a casing lodge between my glasses and temple and left a nasty burn. (Any of you know if the scar will go away? lol). Another 200 rounds today and no issues but again I had a piece of casing I assume or metal dust land on my eyelid and cause minor irritation.

I am happy the gun is reliable but here are my questions so please if you can provide some insight I would be most grateful. After inspecting the CM9, I noticed a small line on the right side of the frame close to the slide. Almost appears to be a slight scratch or dent type. Also on the back of the gun where the slide meets the frame, the polymer pin like part that connects or goes into the slide on the rear is sticking out a bit and not flush with the back of the firearm. I know this is not an issue at least in firing it but should I contact Kahr or the retailer, or not worry about it? Anyone encounter this before? Also what about the wild brass flying at me? I am not a pro nor beginner but never had casing hit me before or burn my face?

I appreciate all the input and advice and look forward from hearing from fellow Kahr owners and veterans.

Thanks again

I have never had that happen yet. I have 300 plus in mine but they seem to go over my head and to the back of me. Good luck and keep us posted.

My two cents. Could u be looking at part #40 side panel in thinking it is a crack. It is on the back right upper side of te grip. held in by a pin that goes through the back part of the frame. That plate is there so the internal parts can be installedein the gun.

Asfar as the slide I am tryingto figure out what ur talking about and the bes tI can come up with is part #4 slide back. It is steel not polymer and on thecm9 that part on the slide sometimes sticks out a tad. again no issue and nothing wrong.

as far as brass hitting u, this is not common in the kahrs, so maybe ur stance, or grip or both could be causing it. If it washappening every time, I wouldsay then somethingisnot right but a couple of times in that many rounds tells me it is not a gun related thing.

Sometimes a different brand of ammo will eliminate that to. Some have done some minr mods to the ejector itself to change the angle of the rounds, but IMO one casing landing on ur in 400 rounds does not sound like an issue at all.

I get that quite oftern with my G19 at the range. Mys n never has that issue so that tells me it is ol jocko and not the gun itself.

No doubt PHOTOS always helps here to see exactly what ur referring to..

IMO,u have no issues. Just shoot it like u stole it.

Hey Jocko,

you are one of the veterans I was hoping to catch as you seem quite insightful. Thanks for the quick response...I will try to post a photo of both the cosmetic issues shortly as soon as I figure how lol....

Also you might be right about being my fault of the casing hitting me...I usually use weaver stance but since its a new gun I might be not holding it firm enough...just wanted to get input if anybody else had it happening or if I should worry about permanent scarring lol...

Also what are your guys take on the talong rubberized grips? I am thinking about ordering some.

Please let me know what you think of the cosmetic issues when you see the photos if I should return/call either Kahr or retailer.

Thanks again.

Here are the photos Jocko and all. I hope it works, my first time uploading some photos. Hopefully you can see the line or dent imprint on the side of the frame and the one piece sticking out on the back of the gun.

Thanks

mine has both of those things... I don't think anything is wrong with mine...like jocko would say "shoot it like you stole it," oh and do the prep in the stickes it really works but use grease instead of just oil...

Mine has both of those features as well. Both are absolutely normal and nothing to worry about. I did consider filing the back of the frame flush with the slide for purely aesthetic reasons but dicided it wasnt worth the effort.

Welcome to the forum Veritas! congrats on the cm9! We didnt adopt :D as our symbol for no reason.... these lil guns rock! My cm9 has the same things. Not a big fan of the rear sticking out a tad like that, but so far (over 1500 rounds) its not a problem. +1 to checking out the prep and the lube threads under the kahr tech section. I dont run grease tho, ive used nothing but some good gun oil on mine, and it runs like a champ. Like ol jocko said.... "shoot it like you stole it!" These things just seem to get better and better the more rounds you feed em!

If the end of the slide stop shaft offends you, it is easy to smooth down with a little sand paper. I did that with the slide stop on my first Kahr, a CW40 and it turned out nice. Looked almost customized. :)

Thanks all who have responded so far! I am a little anal and OC thats why I guess those imperfections bother me a bit and just wondered if I needed to return it. Other than that I have been eyeing this little beauty for a while and finally got it...I believe we will be friends for a long time.

PYRO, thanks for all the input...Yes I did follow the break in instructions for the most part, but I used gun oil like you vs grease. Also under your post I see Grossmans quote. I was fortunate to attend one of his seminars as a work training type of deal a few years ago and gotta say a great american and a great speaker. I personally agree with his beliefs and bought two books :) which he signed.

Well I appreciate all your feedback guys and keep them coming or any other advice. Its nice to see I am not alone and it sets my mind at ease somewhat.

Congrats on the CM9...my favorite carry gun to date by the way...

Mine doesn't have the bulge on the back of the frame but does have the curved area on the side of the slide...

If it runs reliably, keep shooting and enjoy, you picked a good one!
