Took our new K40 to the range to break it in. Wantes to get to that recomended 200 rounds, but stopped at 150. About 80 rounds into it, I had one FTF. Then close to 150 rounds it did it about 6 times in a row. Is this normal for a Kahr?

All that being said. Took my new M&P Shield 40, and it ran flawlessly through 150 rounds.

no, not fgor a K series either. FTF I am assuming is failure to feed, not failure to fire.

Is this out of the box with no lubi9ng or cleaning done or well prepped and still did it???.

Any chance u might want to put a nice polsih on the feed ramp to see if that helps any...

Yes, feeding issue. I cleaned and lubed it before hand. I dont like firing any gun out of the box like that.

I was impressed with the gun. Loved the trigger. Whole gun felt great.

If you haven't already, I would suggest a diff brand of ammo...If you did try different brands then I agree with jocko that it may be a feed ramp issue...

check ur recoil spring, see tha thte open end is towards the front of the slide. check ur mag to see that the mag spring is in correectly. We have seen a few that have come through with the spring in backwards. 6 trmes in a row is just so so odd. Are u using the slide lock lever to load that first round??? or trying to hand rack the gun and getting the FTf issues??? any chance u have a spare mag to test out????

there is a nice photo tutorial over on the kahr tech section under CW45 fixes by GB6491 and also Wyn has added alot to that post to. It shows the proper way that little spring should look etc. Itmight help u . the slide stop should not move out once in correctly.

Recoil spring was right. Just tore it down to reclean it. Feed ramp looks great. I dont think i could polish it any better. Best looking factory feed ramp ive ever seen.

I did try a few different types of ammo in it. Same stuff i ran through my Shield .40.

I will check the mag springs out. It did it with both of the mags though.

probably not the mags either but ur just eliminating some possabilities. kahrs are not ammo sensitive but again it can happen. Is it doing it on any particular round in the magazine, like maybe at round #2/3 or is it just a random FTF

I think I would give it another shot at the range and then I would call kahr and ask for Jay and state what is happening. If he says it should go back then inssit they pick up the gun on their dime. its new.

That is my plan. Ill see what happens at the next range session, and go from there. I absolutely love the gun, so hopefully it runs better. My wife is kinda upset. She has had her eye on this for quite some time. She finally gets it, and it has some problems. She will have to stick with her Glock 23 for now!

I'd put my money on the magazines. Nine times out of ten if there is a malfunction with a weapon it's the magazine.
