Got my new PM45 in and followed all instructions as posted here by other members such as: rack the slide 500 times, clean and oil in between, check the magazine springs etc, lubed her well and off to the range I went. Brought 3 types of ammo, winchester white box, federal and Independence. Wow, does she shoot, not one single faillure to feed, smooth and consistant trigger ( owned a MK9 before so am used to the single action pull, by the way, another gun with no problems what so ever), fairly accurate to shoot, and where not, not to blame the gun, blame the shooter. Recail very mild in terms of muzzle flip, just a little "thumb" in the web of my hand slightly numbing after 300 rounds. Regardless, a blast!

However....one little problem. When inserting a magazine, slide locked back, and this happens with both magazines regardless of ammo brand, when releasing the slide, on several occasions, the slide goes over the round and doesn't feed the first round. Come to find out that i didnt insert the mag all the way. Also noticed that i have to "wiggle" the mag to get it inserted all the way ( or slightly push the first round a little forward in the mag). Also noticed that the slide lock doesnt lock the slide in the most aft position ( tailking less then 2 mm here, but just enough to cause this) resulting in the rear of the round getting stuck under the slide preventing the mag from going in all the way. Nothing that i cant overcome, just gotta make sure the mag is seated all the way prior to releasing the slide, just a little annoying and preventing fast reloads. Any thoughts? Anyone else have this problem? Please advise....thanks

I suspect your slide doesn't have enough bevel on the pick up bar. Its just angled a bit to help the case slide up in front. If theres not enough you get the famous Wyn crunch tick and the slide rides over.

If you pull the slide back that extra couple mm's it's usually enough. Theres some good pictures in the tech section, hang tough a minute and I'll be back.

Go here and look at post #4. Professor Greg did a dandy job on a few issues that are easy to address.

I have not heard of this in a long time, thought it was cured in house. Must have slipped through.

Thank you so much !! That is exactly what the problem is.

"To grind or not to grind" that is the question.

I might just have to ship it back to Kahr and let them deal with it so no warranty will be void. I am at this time just happy to know what the problem is and how to explain it to Kahr.

Thanks again.

It's very easy to do yourself. If you decide to send it I would think they only need the slide.

You might call or email them, tell them you know the problem and the fix and see what they say. If they want the whole gun for test purposes (a good thing) ask that they pick up shipping.

Its easy to do your self with just a file. But worth asking about the warranty issue.

My older version PM45 had the same problem.

Before you file/grind:
Is your PM45 the new or older version? I thought Kahr fixed that problem with the new longer slide.

Take note of the rear most position of the slide then remove the recoil assembly and barrel. Reinstall the slide and pin then retract the slide. Insert the mag with a round and check if the stripper now clears the back of the round. If it does, most likely the outer recoil spring is a bit tooo long maybe by a 1/2 coil.
