Polishing my slide

I'm thinking of polishing the sides of the slide on my CM9, and I'm wondering if I should remove the extractor first. I'm only thinking of doing the sides because I like the contrast, and I don't want to have to mess with the sights.

I would. After all, you might need to clean abrasive materials out of the extractor channel.

In any event, be prepared to fully tear down the slide for cleaning after polishing to avoid abrasive or polishing by products in the wrong parts of the mechanism.

Just my two cents . . . YMMV. ;)

You'll must likely want to clean the slide thoroughly to remove any abrasive compound/debris after doing the work, so removing the internals before hand seems like a good idea to me.

I polished my mk40 with Flitz liquid and taped of the places where any dust could get in and the places I did not want to polish to leave a contrast. It took a lot of time with cotton squares and cotton cloths but it came out great. Doing it by hand is slow but it is easier to not make a mistake.

I only have a phone and asked months ago how to post pics but I guess there is no way to do it without a computer. When I next visit my daughter who by the way is getting married today I will then post some pics. It will be a couple weeks probably.

photobucket has a mobile app just load it from there.

photobucket has a mobile app just load it from there.That is what I do with my iPad. Photobucket has an email ability. You need to go to photobucket set up "email photos", they will I've you a code number you use in the subject area, and an email address. You just email the photo from your phone, then go to your photobucket album, copy the direct link info for that photo, and paste it to the photo app provided above. It sounds like a lot. But it is very easy.

+2 on Photobucket. I can take a picture using the app, get it from Photobucket, and paste it to a website in less time than it took to type this. Very, very easy. Even for a dinosaur like me.
