I like the straight slide serrations and long spur hammer that you find on "GI" style 1911s, but wanted them on stainless steel gun...or I should say wanted them on another as I do have a stainless Colt Government Model. The Colt is a "100 Years of Service" marked gun that I bought last year; I enjoy shooting it, but can't bring myself to holstering and carrying it around in the boonies. It just too pretty, my precious. Anyway, the only other stainless Colt I've seen locally is a shiny Government Model Silver Star with an asking price near $2200. There have been a few stainless Springer GI models pass through, but I didn't like how the sides of the slides were finished (wavy polish) or the small sights. So, after heehawing around about it, I decided to pull the trigger on a Remington 1911 R1S from Davidson's. I'd rather not buy from an online source, but Davidson's has done me right in the past and I have to say I'm pleased with Remington they sent me:

Here's the results of the very first magazine worth of 230gr. ball I put through it (10yds. standing):

Darn flier:o:third:
I normally use a 6 o'clock hold, but the R1S shoots pretty much POA/POI at ten yards.

Greg

Congratulations! That is a beauty! I like the GI models too. It looks like it has slightly upgraded sights than the typical GI sights. No?

Very nice. I still don't have my first 1911. Maybe some day soon, I'll have to check out that Remington.

Beautiful 1911 there, and great shooting (I wouldn't call that a flyer... my flyers are like 10" off, lol). Congrats!

Very nice 1911.
I love an all stainless gun too.

Eventually I'll have to get a 1911.
But not today.

Ill have to settle with my 1998 nickel plated Sig P220/45 for now - LOL!

Oh Hell now I have to go out and get one in stainless steel. The pair would look like salt & pepper shakers.

FYI- Greg's photo makes an awesome screen saver. Hope I didn't violate some photo copying rights or anything. Looks very cool on my desk.

That's a very nice looking gun. That magazine is different than the one that just came with mine. Is that one of your flush fitting Colt mags? I just ordered a few new Kim-pro mags from Kimber. I hope they fit that flush.

That sure is pretty! I wonder how it would look with the flats polished up to look like a nickel gun? It would make a fine BBQ rig.

I just bought a R1 recently. Mine is in black and it is a real straight shooter. This is my first 1911 and I love it! Too bad I didn't get one sooner.

Thanks to all for your comments, much appreciated:)

To answer a couple of questions:

The sights are slightly upgraded over "GI" sights They're taller, have white dots, and the rear notch is generously wide.

That's a Chip McCormick mag.

Yeah! Ain't it great? Hard to pick the 1911 of the year with so many beauties to choose from.

Other than the fact I'm flat broke and my car is a rolling wreck,
just picking a stainless .45 is the biggest thing stopping me from buying one - LOL!

I thought I was stuck between a Dan Wesson Valor and a Springfield loaded.
Then the Sig C3, Ruger 1911, Remington 1911 and the new S&W 1911 came out.
