PM45 old design vs new...how to tell?

A pm45 is coming, I've already decided that. I have been reading posts about new/old design and that some old designs are still in stock. How do you tell the difference between the two?

New design has a longer taper to the front/nose of the slide. The new slides are approximately 1/10" longer as well as the barrel length.

I purchased my older design PM45 in 11-2010 and in 1-2011 the new style was at the LGS. The salesman didn't notice the difference, I had to point it out.

I own and shoot both. Both shoot great. Both do not feed short ammo. If you found a deal on a used one....and it was the shorter model...I would not let that be a major in my decision to make the transaction.

(edit... I was a passenger in a very bumpy truck at the time.....)

It's funny how every pistol is a bit different. My PM45 will handle a round with a COL of 1.300 , the magazine maximum.

I'd send you mine but its near plumb wore out from use. You'd think one would learn the lingo but seems like everytime you think you got it figured out he washes his hands and then he can't do a thing with them. Whole new language.

I feel good posting this, ole Jocko's been asking if I'm feeling ok or if I'm mad at him, haven't picked on him lately.

This ought to be a good start at getting back to status quo. (That's kind of like normal Jocko) no need to look it up.

You have to purchase a PM9J Jocko Version to get the decoder ring

It's got the scope and a feature that's recently been added. There's a plug in the muzzle to keep rounds from falling out. Anything that's had 32,000 rounds through it is gonna be a bit loose.

OK Tinman, make fun of ol jocko's 32K PM9, that fokker goes bang every time. The plug thing I have never devulged to the forum. its not really a plug, I just stick some putty in the end of the barrel and if I need it to go bang, I "thinkj" it will push the puddy out of the way. although I have never tested it out. Would u like to test if for me???? Just sayin.

I take my ol trusty PM9 to the range with my newlly acqwuired used PM9 blunt nose version. I just lay my ol trusty PM9 on the shooting bench so it can look at the target and see how Iam doing with the new used one. I try not to shoot one hollers with the newly acquired used PM9, so trust PM9 doe snot get jealous and maybe for spite Manflunction with me when I need it. I hav eno doubt I can shoot one hollers at 7 yards : Just sayin.

other than slide length, NOTING. I am o e of the few who still love the blunt nose version but the new models are well accepted and still small. For me I could never see why they changed the slide about .020 inch longer. These are compace guns, leave um alone. Just sayin.

Yup other than a tad longer and the nose being more tapered it's still the same.

I don't know if it was to aid in holstering or just a new look or what.

Just enough change that the recoil springs don't interchange so you have to be clear which one you have if / when you order a replacement.

I'm kind of partial to the blunt nose old style myself but I'd be content with the new model too. Not that big a deal.

I'm trying to say... working that little bitty Android keyboard with my big fat fingers whilst careening through a barren job site worthy of an Indiana Jones movie... all while being a passenger in a rusted out job truck... is not conducive to correct typing.
