Anybody have issues with Hornady 45 ammo locking the slide on their cw45? I can also make the shell stick in the barrel by just putting a little pressure on the shell. My 380, 40 , 9 all work fine with Hornady but not the .45. Maybe an out of spec box of ammo? Possibly cw45 is a tighter spec'd barrel? At the price of the ammo I dont think I want to try another box unless the consenus is that it is just an out of spec box of ammo. Thanks for any input. safe shooting, trikerbiker

there is on the kahr tech section under propper prepping thread of how to check to see if that Hornady round is by chancehitting ur slide lock lever. U could also try another defense round to see if it duplicates what ur saying. If not, then just move past the Hornady round . To many other good rounds out there to get to excited about one brand. If your rounds are itting the slide lock lever and pre engaging the slide lock, then call kahr anbd tell them what is happenig and my bet is they willb e more than happy to send u another slide lock lever. Yours cold be a tad out of spec, Many also see where it is hitting and just file a tad off the inside and be done with it. . ur choice.

My CW45 doesn't like the hornady ammo either, they will fire ok but it is almost impossible to rack the slide back with a round in the chamber.Try a differant ammo, mine seems to shoot 230 Grain hollowpoints better than the 185 grain anyway.

My CW 45 hates Hornady. It will not cycle after firing.
I don't know what it is but I have read others having the same issues.
It will function perfectly and without a hiccup on any other ammo I feed it, but NOT Hornady.
And, BTW, my Ruger Alaskan .454 hated Hornady also. The shells would stick in the cylinder and I'd have to really pound the ejector to get them out.
So I avoid Hornady all around now.

Hornady works just fine in my CW45. Put two boxes of it through during the tail end of my break in period...All of my kahr's will run crit defense n haven't had a problem with it yet...

Winchester 230 grain JHP works fine in my CW45. No problems give it a try!

Just this past weekend fired a bunch of Federal 230 grain HST without any problems.

Iwouldthik Hornady ammo should be good stuff, but again if it doesn't do well in ur gun, move to another brand. My P380 just wold not do well with 102 gran golden sabres. I gave what was left to y son in his lcp and it did greatin that gun. I just moved to the corbon powerball in my P380 ad never looked back again. To many "other" good brands out there to get upset over one or two that seem finicky. It also seems thgat after alot of rounds down range that once finicky round does great, but for me ,,, why wouldI want to trust it . Just sayin.

Haven't tried the Hornady, but I have had issues with MagTech Guardian Gold JHP's locking my CW45 up. Switched to PDX1, and it eats those without a hiccup.

I had the same issue with the hornady. I think the kahr's have tight chambers. I have had a lot of fun reloading for both my cw45 and cw40. Some bullet shapes just would not work at all. The ones that did I really had to play with the OAL and crimp to make them work. If loaded for the kahrs the loads would run in all other guns but starting with a glock or 1911 not a chance.

I also had problems with the Hornady. I read somewhere that the Hornady casings where just a tad larger than that of other manufacturers and because Kahr tolerances are so tight it could create a FTE or FTF problem.

Don't us it. I had the same problem. it is a bit too tall and is only 185g. I went with PDX1 and ran 1 clip through without problems

I use Hornaday Critical Defense ammo in my 380 LCP and 9mm LC9, but because of what's been said about it's use in the Kahr CW45 I didn't even try it. I've been shooting Golden Sabre's and Speer Gold Dots without incident.
