New member to the forum. Did a lot of reading what you guys had to say before finally buying a CW 9. Being an old 1911 guy this is something new for me. Getting up in age and was looking for something easy to carry when I have one of those days when I don't feel like carrying the 1911. Read the stickies and did the cleaning like you guys recommend and headed to the range. Put 50 rounds down range and didn't have a single failure. Shot a little low left to left on every shot. Couldn't really get a good grip so after the range I went and bought a Hogue grip. I'll let you know how it goes with those after the next range trip.
Overall I am still unsure but I think I can really learn to like this gun if the new grips help me to control it a little better. I'll always be a 1911 guy but I'm glad I got this gun and feel it will be a great conceal carry in the summer. Really appreciate all the great info from you guys to help in this decision.

There is a bit of a learning curve shooting DA especially if you shoot the 1911 exclusively and low and left is normal if you are a right handed shooter. I transitioned into the CW9 from shooting DA/SA revolvers so the learning curve was much flatter. Of all my DA guns, the CW9 has the best/smoothest trigger pull.
Dry fire, practice and WELCOME to the forum.

Welcome to KahrTalk.
A grip might help with your low lefts but I suspect coming from 1911s it is more a mater of just learning the Kahr trigger. Kinda curious why you didn't go with a Kahr .45 ACP as opposed to one in 9mm.

u will like the cw but IMO don't expect the accuracy ur 1911's gave u. two totally different guns. as u have now found out.. One has a no slop trigger and the other has a looooong but so smooth trigger by design. Both will go bang every time. IMO u wn't be carrying the 1911 as much anymore either. seems to work that way alot when a owner buys a kahr polymer gun.
welcome aboard, nice gun, .. low lefts, = a right hand shooter to.

Money was the main reason for the purchase. Looking for something a little cheaper to shoot at the range, especially since I'm looking forward to retirement soon. You're all right about the trigger, it will take getting use too but overall of all the polymers I looked at I like this trigger the best. Just need a lot more practice. I can shoot a ragged hole with the 1911 at 7 yards but this one will take time. Rally looking forward to the challenge though.

ain't no better DAO trigger system out there, that I would consider safe to pocket carry, IMO. personaly and this is from a piss poor kahr shooter, FORGET THE RAGGED HOLE. ain't gonna happen. accept it for what it is, and IMO it is gonna be a gun YOU WILL CARRY EVERY DAY where as the 1911 IMO required some kind of dress to carry it..

"FORGET THE RAGGED HOLE. ain't gonna happen."
I don't know jocko, there have been some really tight targets posted on this forum from some of the more skilled shooters out there. :)

Welcome and congratulations on that CW9. Once you get used to the trigger everything will go fine. And like you said ammo is SO MUCH CHEAPER!

but I am going with the per5centages. I hope he proves me wrong to, I just was wanting to put him in the real world of shooting kahrs. They are by design not ragged hole guns, IMO: Just sayin

1911 is my middle name and it only took two hundred rounds for me to fall in love with my CM9. With a little trigger time you should be able to shoot 2" groups at 21' with no problem. When I first got my CM9 I too shot low left, but once I got used to the trigger the CM9 shot to point of aim. I had a few minor hiccups during the break in period, but since then the gun has been flawless. Congrats and welcome aboard. :D

As a follow-up, I made my second trip to the range with my CW9. I purchased a Houge Handel and the grip is much better. Getting much better with the trigger but still need some work. Not a ragged hole yet but 3" groups at 21 ft pretty easy now. I have still had no problems yet, after 120 rounds. I love my 1911's, but I'm really becoming a big fan of this little CW9.

I loved shooting my CW9. It was one sweet gun and NEVER had even one problem.
