Was a little slow around the old Kahrtalk today and at work so I started reading older threads in General Discussion and had a real good time reading some threads all the way back to the first page in 2009...I remember reading and making some of those posts but it sure doesn't seem like 3 years ago...

I found this place just a short while after Bawanna did in 09 and now he's the Grand Poo Ba and I'm still just a grunt, What's up with that???...I found the one Bawanna posted when Jocko crashed his Harley and busted himself up pretty good...Don't think it hurt him too bad and in the end it helped his typing ability somewhat...:p

It was fun remembering those old posts and reading some really great jokes in the it's "Pick a month anything goes" threads...It was kinda hard reading all of Dietrich's threads and the very poignant one titled "Janie" about when his sister Janie died while he held her hand and he said I'll see you again soon but little did he know he had less than a year to live...:(...I think one of his good ones is on page 144 titled "The Old Days"...Man I really miss that guy and hope he is on the Made in Heaven pistol range where ammo is free, guns never jam and every shot goes in the same hole...

It was fun reading about some of the old members that don't frequent our bar anymore like Zena and MX5Fan who Bawanna still has a major cursh on...

Don't let those old posts go to waste and if you have the time go back and reread the old ones cause there is some really funny threads along with some real good debates about all kinds of stuff....Happy reading, sniff sniff....

very nice getsome. some newbies here have no idea the mark Deit left on this forum. I need to do wha tu did sometimes when I am bored.

tomorrow I hav eto give a deposition on my lawsuit that I started over 2 years ago on my motorcycle wreck. Looks like I am looking at next year before trial even. The legal system sucks big time. Oh well, after 2 years, I can say life is still good..Just sayin

Zena and MX5fan were class acts. I wish they would come back again. Thank goodness we got Melissa and Jdlott and air retired and a few others to keep us on our toes.

I occasionally go back and read, it really doesn't seem like that long ago.

I'm really not the Grand Poo Ba, I'm just a poser but I'm giving you a battle field commission to Gunnery Sgt, after your helicopter door gunner story related to your screen name it seems appropriate.

As a historic note both Zena and MX5Fan rallied the troops on more than one occasion to keep Jocko and Dietrich from jumping ship. Ups and downs as I imagine any group with more than one person will have.
They talked of leaving. The girls bombarded them with PM's and offers (I never did get a straight answer on what they were offering but Dietrich said it was good) to convince them to stay.

It worked. That's all that matters. Wish I had something good to offer to convince them to rejoin us.

MX5 is the one that clonked me on the head and gave me a burning desire for a CBob. She had a very nice one and some Buckeye Burl handles on it too. I think of her every time I look at mine.

Perhaps he meant "Poo Bear" ?

I've done a bit of reading the old files, too. I wish that every post you ever made didn't have the same danged Avatar, signature, and post count. The things just don't seem that old... losing any "historic" feeling.

I always pause and think about Dietrich when I run across his posts in the threads I'm reading. Sometimes it comes as kind of a shock.

Wynn:)

You got that right. I miss him. He kept this place lively. I remember all the funny wise/guy, practical joker post. and who could forget Dear Detrich.

Bawanna's tribute to him in his signature line says it all. That always cracked me up and still does. Nobody can be that way online without being the same way through life. You can bet his life's impact made this world a better place.
