I'm not a Kahr owner yet but I will be as soon as I can decide between the CM9 and the CW9. I love the small size of the CM9 but I'm worried that I may not be able to put two whole fingers on the grip. The gun is not in stock at my regular dealer so I can't readily check it out.

Would someone know the grip measurement between the bottom of the trigger guard and edge of the magazine well? Many thanks.

its pretty close to 1 1/2 + 1/8 for mag

Thank you kahrnut1. My fat fingers require at least 1-7/8" of front grip. So it's either Pearce grip extensions for me or the CW9.

Personal opinion (former pm9 owner, current p9 owner). If you are gonna need pierce grip extensions, just get the cw. Its only half an inch, you get an extra round and neither the grip or barrel half inch impact carry one bit save maybe pocket carry. I didnt particularly think pocketing the pm9 worked that well, but some are ok with it.

problem with getting two full fingers on a cm9 grip, . That littrle finger might indeed be looking for a home to stay at. U buy a cm9, u get a small 9mm, thatis why it is so damn popular. Your giving up some things to gain some things IMO.

I have pocket carried a PM9 for over 5 years, IMO it certainly is very pocketable. Certainly if u want a better feel the pearce extencion will give that to you or like some have said to the cw model does the same thing. The nice thing about if owning a cm9 over the cw9 is that with the pearce extension on the cm9 u have abouot what a cw series would feel like but you can then go right back to the flush fit magaazine and have a smaller gun all around than the cw can ever do.

either one is a great choice, I just prefer the cm9 over the cw if for no reason other than size, neiother is a target gun,b oth will save ur life, both made internaly the same, only outter demensions differ.

Take ur time before u buy, feel um both, if possable shoot um both, then decide. course u can also buy both and then no decisions have to even be made: Just sayin.

I had both but gave up the CM and kept the CW. Just was more comfortable for me. Take advice from jocko and try to fire both before purchase.

Also a PM9 pocket carrier for years, it fits perfectly in the upper pocket of the cargo shorts I wear most of the year ... I can easily get two fingers on the grip, three if I'm using the 7-rd mag which I normally carry in my weakside pocket as a reload ... got it in 2004 shortly after my plastic arrived and have never been disappointed ...

IMO, you will find you can grip the CM9 OK. Your little finger just curls up underneath the mag floor plate and you forget about it. The decision between the CM9 and the CW9 is simple:

If you really want to/have to carry in your front pocket, it has to be the CM9. Personally, I find the CM9 makes a huge package in my jeans front pocket, so I carry it IWB just behind my hip in a PJ Holster.
If you are going to carry on your waist, go for the CW9 because you will lose nothing in comfort or concealability carrying that still very small gun there and you will have the advantages of perfect grip length and one more bullet.

Whichever gun you get, get a PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37) with FBI cant and the over the belt clip. I and many others here will tell you that this is the only holster we have ever seen that is so perfectly comfortable that it and the gun become part of your body and you can't feel them there! You have to reach back there with your hand to confirm that you are carrying!

In my case that would be two huge packages in my jeans, Just sayin:israel:

I can get 1 3/4 fingers on the grip it is very manageable. I like the shorter barrel on the CM9 for IWB or pocket carry too. If you're thinking of an extension anyway, You can get the black plastic baseplate for the Kahr CW9 to put on the CM9 and that will make it good too. It has a little notch that will help hold that second finger. Now I have a LCP and I have to put the included extension in order to be able to keep a second finger on it and it's still a stretch.

The CW9 is a real shooter. It's really nice.

If you're going to go with the extra size of a CW9, and carry IWB, why not get the CW45? Minimally larger, and packs a good wallop. Easy IWB carry with the pj holster. I do pocket carry the CM9 and it borders on too large, but it can be done with good size pockets, and loose fitting pants.

Personally before I bought either one I would check out a K9. Don't get me wrong the CW9 is a fine handgun and I am sure the CM9 is as well but the K9 just feels so much better in my opinion.

Thank you all for your advice. I was able to check out a CW9 today and I was somewhat surprised to see how much slimmer the grip is as compared my old Kel-Tec P11. I love that trigger pull though. It reminds me of my Sig P239DAK. I looked at the CW45 too but I'm a little worried about the recoil in this size pistol. The K9 looks to be priced more than what I want to spend at the moment.

I have the CW45 and the CM9. I don't find the recoil of the 45 that much different. Stiffer larger spring and heavier slide make it very manageable. If you want a K9 you could always get a NYPD trade in. There's a thread going on about that right now. Tinman posted the link.

Those grips are thin. Very nice to shoot. And like you said, the trigger is Sweet....

IMHO... Pocket carry get the CM9. Belt carry CW9 or a whole bunch of other Kahr and non Kahr offerings.

At the moment, I pocket carry a Seecamp LWS32 in the summer and I waistband carry a Sig P239DAK in 40SW the rest of the time. I feel under gunned with the Seecamp and the Sig is getting heavier as I get older. So I've decided to switch to a 9mm Kahr.

Your suggestion is exactly the way I was thinking of going for my EDC. Either I will pocket carry the CM9 all year round or I will waist band carry the CW9 all year round. It is thin enough to conceal carry in an IWB holster during the summer months.

I would recommend the latter, unless you're a big feller. CM9 pocket carry year round would get old methinks. Either that or just get a pocket holster and IWB holster for the CM9 and choose your mode of carry depending on the dress of the day.

I must be one of the few. I weight 170# , 5'11" (and with age now around 5;10:. I am just not a big person. I wear jeans 99% of the time. I carry my PM9 in a uncle mikes #3 and a desantis pocekt holster 24/7. I am so use dto putting it in my pocket when I walk out of the house it is just now human nature to me. I have an Indiana lifetime ccw permit. I ride a Harley a hell of alot. If u look real close at my gun pocket area,u probalby can tell it prints. I COULD GIVE A FOKK. I am legal to carry. I have never been challenged in pocket carrying in over 48 years of doing so. No one is looking. My PM9 loaded weight 18 ounces. I really don't even know it is there. Fast draw area in jeans it is not, but I won't dress to carry, so jeans is the dress of the day. I don't fear that not being a so called fast draw area one bit. I IMO probalby when in a restaurant of 25 people more than likely am the only one carrying (this is also a SWAG). I truly feel the cm9 is and was made to be pocket carried, mir ethan waist band carry. It I had to waste band carry I would buy a cw instead of the cm: Just sayin

I will aree the seacamp as nice as it is , IMO is way underpowered. I would doubt if any BG carry such a small ass caliber. But that being said, it beats a rock all to hell to.
