View Full Version : Barth Six Barrels Runs Out of Luck

My string of good luck with barrels has finally run out.
And it's not pretty.
Got my P220 and P239 back today.
Ran to the range with four barrels and 300 rounds of HPs to shoot the P220 with.
The stock barrel is reliable but underwhelming.
The Bar-Sto, although accurate, had two FTF on Federal HPs.
My super duper ported Storm Lake will not feed a single round!
And my $115 ridiculous 5.47" factory P220 Sport stainless barrel,
that Sig customer service verified will not work in my gun,
eats any ammo while blowing out the center of the target.
It continues to run flawless. And smoke third party match barrels, costing 2 or 3 times as much, with style. Like a fine Cuban cigar.

On a lighter note My P239 now has a 7 lbs DA pull, Big Dot sights
and a stylish nickel plated trigger.

That Sig is nice. I really shouldn't be looking at guns on the web tonight. I'm going to a gun show tomorrow and it makes me more likely to spend $$$

I think there's a big Suncoast show here in Tampa tomorrow too....
Not sure I'll go to that one.
My last debacle with barrels has got me depressed.
Last four Storm Lake barrles were drop in and ran flawless?
Very disappointing.
Plus I've got a ridiculously expensive Bar Sto being made for me as we speak.
If that one's a stinker too my Indian Spirit Guide may be replaced - LOL!
I could have easily had a very nice new gun for the cost of these barrels
and gunsmith work I've had done recently.
Although the P239/357 trigger job feels outstanding.
7.0 lbs glassy smooth DA pull feels like my tuned S&W revolver!

not that I don't like my CM9.... I sold my perfectly good P239 40 cal in January to fund the much lusted for CM9. I considered the DA/SA P239 to have the same basic manual of arms as the Kahr pistols....DA first shot, no external safety to deal with, but for IWB carry the P239 left a bit to be desired. Even though the CW9 had taken over the IWB roll a couple of years earlier, I needed a "boot gun", and unfortunately had to give up another prized handgun in order to make the funds. I really miss my P239, although I'm not a big fan of the .40 S&W chambering.
If I still had the P239, Barth would have convinced me to get the 9mm barrel (third party) and the .357 barrel (from Sig)......and the Siglite night sights.
I still love those Sigs

It's not my best work, I was mad and in a hurry.
But I had a quick compare of the P239/357 vs Glock G27-357

The XS Big Dots and trigger job really improved my shooting with the Sig dramatically.
I actually out-shot the G27 with a match barrel?
That's new.
Can't wait to see how the extended triple ported Bar Sto does in the P239.
I carry outside the waist band, inside the belt, cross draw these days.
The P239 carries as well as the G27 for me that way.
Now that the P239 has a glassy 7.0 lbs DA pull I'm switching it to my EDC.
Plus I've got six Factory Sig 8 round extended mags.
The G27/G33 holds 9.
It's like falling in love all over again LOL!
Even if the Bar Sto ends up unreliable, I'm still happy.
This is one hell of a gun.

Well, I assume there is some kind of warranty on that barrel?

Storm Lake barrels are near drop in.
Usually they just drop in and work.
My last four did.
Occasionally they require minor fitting by a gunsmith.
The occasion has arrived.
I've spent way too much on guns this year and am drawing the line at June.
I still have a $260 extended triple ported Bar Sto being manufactured for me (P239/357) that will not be ready till August.
I'll shoot some of my 1000+ rounds and just pay range fees for the next six months.
That barrel will just have to wait.

I think my luck has returned in a new form? LOL!
This baby rocks! And the closer I look at, hold and dry fire.
The more it looks like I got a gem!
This thing is absolutely prestine NIB polished stainless.
It has a Bull barrel with that crown thingy on the end.
And the action is tuned sweeter than my tuned 640-1.

Man, that's sweet! :D
Thanks, I can't put it down LOL!
I'll go to the range tomarrow and try various magnum loads.
This is going to be fun!
The weight, size and balance feel perfect for carry.
