My first venture into concealed carry, got a new CM9 about a week ago. Made my own kydex holsters, pocket and iwb. 200 shots down range, blazer brass, flawless (except some failure to lock after last round, but that was fixed by changing my grip). Great little gun, really impressed by how easy it shoots.
Shot again today, added the bicycle tube grips (thanks to this forum), they feel great, even put them on my cz75b. But I got not mags in the mail today and had my first failure with the gun. So my now 2 6 round mags work perfect, but with the 8 round I get nose dives on the second round from the mag (so third round if I chamber and top off). I was kinda surprised as I bought the 8 round because of all the 7 round issues and haven't seen any negatives with the 8 rounder in the cm9. I may go ahead and try the follower mod, but haven't decided yet if I want to carry a modified mag or just send it back and stick to the 6 rounders.

-Lots of good info here, didn't read the prep thread till after my first time out, but luckily didn't have any issues to start with. Ordered some HST 147 grain for carry rounds, still haven't decided how much I need to put through each mag to be satisfied with reliability. I should post some pics soon of my holsters, was somewhat time consuming project but quite rewarding.

Seems like more than a few people have problems with the higher capacity mags in the PM series. I suppose the CM series would be the same. My CW45 won't work with the extra capacity mags. I just sent it and 3 extra capacity mags to Kahr to see if they could figure it out. I can't see any difference when I take the slide off and insert a mag. 6 and 7 round mags both seem to put the bullets in the same place and angle. I'd like to be able to carry a 7 round mag as my spare instead of a 6 round mag.

Am I correct to say that this is not likely due to the mag release catching since it is the 2nd round in the extended mag (I'd expect it to be the culprit in round 4-5 for these vs. round 2-3 for standard 6 rounders). I took apart the mags to test them, all the mags stick a little just before the follow gets to the top, but the 8 rounder is no worse than the 6 rounders which work just fine.

9mm bullets have a slight taper to them - wider at the back. This gets exaggerated with two more rounds in the long mag. So, if the follower is sticking at all, it will be more likely to cause a nose dive in the longer magazine. Take just a little off the follower where it contacts the mag catch and see if that fixes it. The next step is to reshape the top of the follower per the instructions in this (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=6943) thread.

I had the exact same issue as you described, Other threads have addressed this problem. I sanded off some of the magazine follower on 2 of the 8 round mags and now the work fine.
