Question about sight gunsmithing

I am looking at sight options for my CM9 and considering the Dawson FO or the XS Big Dot sights. XS currently does not have a pinned front sight for the CM but said they could do the gunsmithing and cut a dovetail in the sldie for the front Big Dot sight for about $70, plus the $102 for the sights and shipping.

Has anyone ever had this done? Did it affect the gun at all? Would anyone recommend this or would it be better to wait for them to make a pinned front sight? Looking for some opinions before I decide.

I have had a lot of guns have slides cut for sights. In my experience many pinned or screwed on sights tend to come loose. Dove tail are far better and stay put.
