I just picked up a NYPD K9, and after an hour and a half spent cleaning it dissasembly is still a bit of an issue. I get the pin out and depress the trigger but I really have to yank the slide assembly forward to get it off. it sounds like its scraping on something but I don't know what. I've never had this problem with my P9 or my K40. Any ideas? It's got plenty of oil on the rails and everything else looks ok. Just want to make sure the gun isn't being damaged. It does look like its an older gun but I wanna make sure its good go to. Haven't had a chance.to shoot it yet.

I would have it inspected, prior to shooting, for re assurance....

I got mine a few weeks ago and even though it is well worn, and the slide looks like it was from another lower (Slide stamped with a C, the lower with an S), it is a GREAT shooter! I'm much more accurate with it than with the CM9 (which will be sold soon as I find a buyer). Try assembling it with the barrel and spring out and see if you get the same effect as you have now. If not, look where the barrel shines and check where the shiney spots are rubbing on the slide and be sure they are clean and lubed (I've been using Militec and it seems pretty good). Then put the barrel in without the slide and torque on the slide this way and that trying to find the grind. If that isn't it then be sure the spring is on its guide the right way round (closed end of spring to open end of the guide) and maybe open the last 1/3 rotation of the open end of the spring a touch so it stays captured in it's landing better. Somewhere along the line you should find the source of any roughness and be able to clean it out.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

off with alittle yanking, just accept it, nothing wrong with it. If it works good, , again forget about what it doesn't do that ur other different models do do. Every gun can have it own personality, Main thing, is does it go bang every time??? Then proceed to love the gun..

My K9 also requires a little extra "tug" that some of my other Kahrs do not. It's never caused any trouble either in disassembly or reassembly though. If I recall; my K9 also has to have it's ejector thumbed down as the slide is replaced onto the frame. Otherwise it catches on the inside bottom of the slide. Two foibles I can live with because the gun is so nice.
