A fellow worker stopped by the range today and brought me a S&W Shield 9mm that I had on order. Just slightly larger than my PM9. Right out of the factory box, first 50 rounds, using handloads, I had no issues . I also had a few assorted range pickups of different shapes, wt's, and brands that I mixed in a magazine. Again no issues and they all shot at POA or 1" high at 30'. Totally different trigger than the Kahr. Probably much easier to get used to for the average shooter. It shot nice small groups at 30'. Wish it had the night sights that are on my PM9. Home for a complete cleaning and I will report back after more rounds are down range next week. Oddly enough in the bay next to me was a guy with a Kimber Solo. Lot's of jams with lots of different ammo and two different shooters. Third time back to Kimber. He is selling it. Nothing is perfect.

Nice pic. Good looking gun. The Kimber Solo is just showing punishing results for something you would not have expected from Kimber, but everybody makes a lemon now and then I suppose. Congrats on the Shield though, happy to see this come our from Smith. Of all the competing striker fired pistols out there (Glock, XD/XDm, M&P, etc), I always thought the M&P was the most pointable and had more going for it than any other line out there. Alas, I've become addicted to my Sig P250. So I'm all DAO now. But that's gotta be nice to shoot and a nice BUG or off duty carry for folks already into the M&P product line. Happy shooting!

Sweet.
I must say the Shield looks inciting.
Could you please show some comparison pics of the Shield and PM9 together,
so I can get a feel for the size difference?

Thanks in advance.

Update: Never mind - LOL!

Pics can lie depending on angles. The Shield is about 1/2' longer. Shield is about 4 oz heavier but I cannot really feel the difference. The trigger guard is larger, and with the Pearce mag extension the grip is about the same length as my PM9 but it holds one more round. Thickness is about the same for both pistols. Here are some quick pics.
