I had a chance to run my ported P40 in my combat pistol class today. I thought the porting had slightly helped the gun at the static range when I first tried it out. This was the first time I tried it in an environment with rapid follow up shots and multiple targets. I have to say that porting made a moderate difference in ability to get back on target quicker. After putting the porting through more of a dynamic test, I went from a "it helps a little" to "I dont want to remove the ported barrel". Mind you, it still is not a "have to have it" mod for me, but certainly needs to be recognized for what it did for my .40.
I am conditioning myself to roll my gun at a 45 degree angle if I ever have to fire in close. The porting made enough of a diff that learning to compensate for it is worth it IMHO. However in a high stress situation, I will probably just squeeze and forget the roll though.
My 2 cents.

I'm glad to hear it's working out for you.
I have six barrels for my G27.
Only one is ported.
And that one never leaves the gun - LOL!

I haven't made it to the range yet with my CW40 with the ported barrel. I did shoot a couple magazines out of the barn, and it felt a little tamer. I'm hoping for a faster follow up shot.

After shooting many boxes of 357 Sig in my ported Glock.
I went back to shoot my P239/357 with a trigger job and Big Dots.
Always thought the P239 had surprisingly little kick and flip for a stock 357.
Now very accustomed to the ported Glock,
the P239 seems to be bucking and jumping in comparison - LOL!
All is relative I guess.
Makes me feel better about ordering the Bar Sto triple ported barrel for the P239.
I had a fleeting thought I was just blowing more money
on another barrel I really didn't need - LOL!
Just Barth being Barth
Now if Bar Sto can just open the chamber, as requested,
for reliable HP feeding?
I'll be singing in the streets again Woo Hoo!
I think I told everybody my Storm Lake P220 45 fits perfect and will feed nothing.
Took the gun and both SL and OEM barrels to the gun smith.
It's very clear to me that the feed ramp is the culprit. It doesn't look finished.
The edges of the mouth are blocky and not rounded.
The hollow point locks up right there.
Comparing the Sig OEM feed ramp and the SL ramp the difference is obvious.
I'm asking the smith model the Storm Lake ramp after the Sig OEM ramp.
He is confident he can do that.
The P220/45 Storm Lake barrel is ported as well.
So I'm interested In trying that pup out.
The P220 doesn't kick hard, but little things make a difference.

the truth speaks for itself. Nice to hear good comments from porters other than Jocko and Jeepster. It may not be fvor everyone, but it is very nice for most all who have it. I feel sure a 40 kahr ported makes a big difference, A kahjr 9mm is a pu$$y gun in the first place but ported makes it a real pu$$y gun Just sayin.

If you condition yourself to roll YOU WILL do it in a high stress situation without conscience thought.

Absolutely.
Train, train, train till its automatic like breathing.
Thinking shouldn't have anything to do with it.
Close quarters my left hand comes up.
And my gun hand cants the barrel away from my body as I draw the gun close.
That's just the way it is.

Exactely. It is called a conditioned response. It generally takes at least 5000 repititions to ingrain the response into your muscle memory for it to be semi-reliable.

Agraaahhh! There is no such thing as muscle memory. It's a misnomer. Your muscles aren't capable of thought. They only react to signals from the brain.

b.s. I don't buy that, I have a certain muscle that responds every damn time to when a doll baby walks by me, and no signals needed from ol jocko's brain, trust me it is spontaneous. I am alive but I have been told I am brain dead

Your opinion is noted. It is actually brain memory but muggsy that is why I mentioned conditioned response. Misnomer yes but it is a term in general use that is understood my most but not all folks. It is referred to as a double entendre.
