Hi,

I just changed out my recoil spring, after having some issues I'm sure was related to the recoil spring that I had about 1,500 rounds on. I've run through a couple hundred rounds of Lawman and then a couple hundred rounds of my carry ammo to confirm everything is functioning fine.

In those 400 rounds, I have had twice (possibly three times) the slide fail to lock back after the last round on my six round magazine. My other two magazines that I have tested and designated for carry are 7 round magazines. All of those 400 or so rounds have been fired by loading 20 rounds into those three mags, firing the 6 rounder followed by the two 7 rounders.

Any thoughts on what could be going on? Failure to seat the mag fully? A problem with the follower on that magazine? A problem with the gun itself?

Two issues could be at play, maybe another as well.

1. Obvious - follower is not right. Swap followers from 7 to 6 and 6 to 7. Does the problem stay with the follower or the magazine?

2. Magazine spring is not letting the follower rise fast enough or strong enough. Is the spring installed correctly?

3. Maybe a problem with the slide stop, and it could be the 7 rounders are working by a hair, and all three mags are ok, but the slide stop is not.

Do the follower swap... that'll getcha pointed in the right direction.

I hadn't thought about changing followers. Thanks for the ideas.

Also, I must admit, I am VERY bad about cleaning/lubing mags. So, these magazines have never been disassembled. So, that means that it shouldn't be anything related to the spring being improperly installed, but I suppose there could be some crud or something. I will take them apart, clean, lube and swap followers.

I don't drop my mags (on reload) that I test and then mark for carry, so there shouldn't be much dirt/grime in them. Each of these has probably had roughly 500 of my 2,000+ PM9 rounds through them, so that's roughly 25 load/empty cycles for each of my three carry mags.

Any tips for cleaning/lubing the magazines?
