Comes down to some think the criminals have or should have more rights than their victim. I've wondered just how far do the people that are against the SYG laws think the victim should run in order not to endanger the criminal.

Dogman I have read of politicians in some areas that say you must never use force against any opponent. You must flee and never defend yourself because the attacker is just a misunderstood/poverty driven haplless soul.
For me SYG is a great equalizer. Criminals should fear the citzens and never the other way around.

Those are the same politicians that want to deny everyone else the right to protect their families and home but yet they want armed guards for themselves.

Funny how that works. Do as I say not as I do.

I'm still trying to figure out how they link the Zimmerman/Martin incident to "Stand Your Ground" legislation???
According to witnesses Zimmerman was on the ground, being pounded by Martin which is a clear case of Assault and Battery. Zimmerman was on the ground unable to retreat (a component of Stand Your Ground) and the level of the attack would raise to the point of concern for one's safety or even life. If Zimmerman is telling the truth and Martin was going for his sidearm, then Zimmerman had every right to defend himself up to and including deadly force.
The individual's right to self-defense is protected Constitutionally by the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 14th Amendments of the US Constitution. This strikes me as being nothing more then the Left trying to use the courts to redefine what "IS, IS" again to eliminate a law that they don't like.

Wouldn't this be a state's rights issue since we don't have a national SYG law (except those rights granted in the Constitution/Bill of Rights)?
Affirmative Mr. Surveyor.

Gotta go chill out!
Tomorrow is "old farts" day at the range. Think I'll practice my SYG at 7, 15 and 25 yards.

Again, I don't see where having a young man sucker punch you, then jumping on top of you and slamming your head into the pavement, qualifies as standing your ground. It seems more like a common case of self defense.
Of course it is going to be portrayed as a racist law, that allows whites to kill members of other races by "standing their ground".

I find the New England area interesting, so many anti 2A states and people, in an area that saw the birth of our nation by armed freedom fighters.

Once again, you have a way of finding the head of nail squarely with the head of the hammer, and you do it better than I do.
At the monment I can't seem to remember which founding father wrotr this quote, but i believe it was Thomas Jefferson...."When the people fear the Government there is tyranny, but when the Government fears the people there is liberty"
Ben Franklin wrote something along the lines of "Liberty is a wolf and a lamb discussing whats for dinner, with the armed lamb contesting the vote"
No truer words have ever been spoken. Our founding fathers were wise beyond their years. Nay we as Americans never forget!

If we had men like this today they wouldn't be sitting around talking about how bad things are anymore then they did 236+ years ago.
