To much other stuff that needs doing (like the new deck my wife wants completed sometime this summer ) this time of the year that I find I must cut back on my time at the computer. Decided to keep my visits to KahrTalk about the same but will cut way back on the other gun forums that I regularly visit. Think that says something about KahrTalk as there are a bunch of really good forums out in Internet land. [Maybe if jocko was still posting on KTOG I'd visit more there. :)]

Glad we get the vote. Just something about this place.

Bill, I'm sure it makes it more difficult for you when the climate limits your outdoor activities to June through August... Anyway, happy that you'll keep up the visits to KahrTalk!

Break from laying out and cutting stringers for the deck to have lunch. Cut two stringers both from the same 2X12X10' board and went to layout the third and fourth from the second board. Something looked wrong and sure enough the cut 2x width measures 11 3/4" and the other board 11 3/8". Had I caught it earlier I could have dimensioned the boards on my neighbors table saw. Well, back to Home Depot to see what they'll do for me. Spent about a half hour selecting the two boards and just didn't think to measure the width of the two boards. I would have never guessed the width from one board to another would be different by almost 1/2". Another day lost working on the deck. :(

With all the things to do,and need doing it's hard to find the time. Usually try to get on in the morning before I get started with the day. Then if I can find a moment later on I'll check in even if it's just to lurk around a little.

That's what I do, like coffee, first thing in the morning and then whenever possible between task or chores or work or whatever you call it when you'd rather be doing something else.

Works out great at work, finish a pile, check in, do another pile check in. Fast and easy and provides a little sanity in the day, or sometimes insanity depending on the day and weather Jocko is riding or not.

I just quit the Elsie Pea forum that I had been a member of since owning an LCP a couple years ago. New owners, dropped the name, the look, and the good feel. After being asked to remove my sig concerning Obama, I said screw em.

I still go to the S&W forum every now and then cause I love revolvers so much. Those guys are crazy knowledgable about everything S&W.

But I do like it here best.

I'm trying to figure why a difference in width would matter when laying out stringers. They only need to be the same in each tread and rise measure. You could use different width lumber on purpose for that matter, and some do for various reasons. If for some reason it really matters, then you could rip each board to the lowest denominator.

I love building decks, they offer instant practical use and gratification. Good luck.
