I have seen people recommed using grease on the slide instead of using oil. So what kind of grease are we talking about using?

I use TW25. Comes in a handy little doctor like syringe. Leaves a nice clean bead.
I'm not sure I'd take my advise though, I got the idea from Jocko so not sure if it's any good or not.
I do like it though.

any good gun grease will work. i use mil-comm TW-25B. it comes in a syringe that is great for getting grease in rails and tight spots. a syringe full will last a long time. www.mil-comm.com:)

TW25b. Why? Because Sig recommends it and I love my Sigs.

I use grease on the rails instead of oil because it stays put.

i used hoppes during the break in period, it seemed to smooth out my pm9 alot quicker than when i using just plain oil. she was really tight, she likes the lube! lol... much smoother and easier to rack the slide now.

I have used "RIG" for over three decades with very good results. It can't be beat for long term gun storage and no worries. After years of storage not any indication of rust...period.

shooter choice is good stuff, I have used it and it is good stuff. Mr preference is TW25 by Miil-comm. One can find shooters choice in alot of good gun stores when TW25 u will not. U can't go wrong with either. Oil will run--eventually, oil will dry out--eventually. The two grease products talked about here tend to stay where u put it and that syringe applicator that comes with the TW25 grease is just awesome. U can lay aline of TW25 right down the middel of the slide rails with zero mess or zero waste.

Not to knock any other greaseprodcuts mentioned either for my thoughts are "any" grase in better than no grease..

i use slip2000ewg on my AR and the contact points of my glock. Stuff is amazing and clean up is noticeably better than CLP. i bought a syringe of it on ebay for a few bucks and it appears that its gonna last a while because it goes a long way

I used all sorts of stuff, from rem and hoppes oil, to tw-25, to STP Motor Treatment. None has given me any problems. I like the TW-25 syringe for applying the stuff, does a real nice job and lasts quite awhile. With STP I dip a toothpick in it and apply to the rails and around the barrel. I tried the STP on a whim, when was out of heavier gun grease, and had a bottle of it on the oil rack and tried it, seemed to work real well. I used it pretty regularly until I picked up the TW-25.

Ihave never tried it for reasons that it makes no sense to do it but I would almost bet my Pm9 would shoot bone dry, no lube period for 200 rounds with ease as would my K9. I don't normally ever shoot more than 200 rounds without cleaning my weapon not because I have to ,,, but when I am done shooting at the range I normaly clean and lube the gun that was used there. all that stuff manski noted would work perfect in my kahrs for IMo my kahrs work perfect anyhow

Any good high temp wheel bearing grease will do just fine. Grease is nothing but oil with thickeners added. In extreme cold conditions oil lubricates better. A single tube of wheel bearing grease will take care of all of your gun needs for a lifetime unless your name is Jocko or Melissa. :)

I use high temp wheel bearing grease on slide rails applied with a pinched end of a q-tip.

Another Tetra user here. I also use Eezox for a dry lube and rust preventative. If you get it dry, it doesn't attract lint. But, I do put some grease on the rails and barrel of the Kahr, in spots on the gun where it won't end up attracting pocket residue.

I did use RIG decades ago when I lived in the Houston area. Even there, things with Rig didn't rust and everything rusted in Houston. Eventually, after 40 years or so, Rig turned to a hard wax type of substance on a gun from my youth.

I really like the TW-25. I bought a 1.4oz tube from Amazon for less than $14, it is bigger than I was thinking it would be, so it will last a very long time with as little as you need to apply to your firearms. It is not a syringe, so I also bought 18ga blunt tip needles that work very well for fine application on the rails and hard to reach places (10 pack was like $5).

"PTFE nano-particle technology"

This is very important to me....

I been using the TW25 for quite a spell but saw a tube of the Shooters Choice at Cabela's so I bought a tube. It goes a long ways and last a long time.

Kind of a Tootsie Roll in that lasting area.

In a pinch I've used high temp brake grease, wheel bearing grease (non-fibered), general purpose chassis grease, plumbers grease, Phulger fishing reel grease, etc. They all worked. Some better than others.

BTW - I'm using the Shooters Choice now.

At first it was shooters choice for me as it was at the gun shop and I liked the syringe applicator more than anything else. Id id fine to. ThenIstumble donto TW25 and liked it asmuch if not more but can't say exactly why, but I like the applicator on it even alittle better. I but the tip off so that just a very small line of TW comes out and I can run it right downinsde my sldie rails and even reach insidce of the lower and put a dab on the trigger bar spring. I dab it on the slide lock spring . Just sayin

Hell who knows, maybe even shooters choice is buying TW25 in bulk and packaging it themselves. Both are white i color and they certainlyfeel closely the same. Niether runs and that is another reason I like um.

I use slide glide on the rails of all my pistols. Haven't had an issue with any of them.

I broke in my MK40 Elite just using Militec-1 oil.
I think Kahr recommends it?
Never used grease?

After watching a Hickok45 Glock cleaning video
I use Ballistol now on all my guns.
Being non-toxic really appeals to me.
It's been working well for me so far...

As I work in a sporting goods shop that also carries fishing gear,I tried something on a lark. It's Penn reel grease,it was infused with PTFE and waterproof to the enth degree,so I figure what the heck,$4 for a little tub of it.
MAN is that stuff slick! A little goes a long ways,I do the rails, striker cam ,trigger pivot around the coil spring and the barrel surfaces,I just smear a light film on these areas.

The way I know it has staying power is when I go to clean the gun later, brake cleaner barely budges it off,it really bonds at the molecular level, not just a slogan IMHO. Also rated for Penn's legendary high-dollar deep sea reel warranty.

Those in the know realize that these big boy reels can spin 1000s of rpms during a fish fight/run,and have water poured on the reel to cool it,yet the lube HAS to stay put,or failure. I doubt my guns will see that treatment. I see it a Wmart in the fishing dept... http://www.fishusa.com/assets/product_images/95009021b.jpg
