Have over 150 rounds through my cw9 and no hiccups. I also found out I can magically shoot it far better then my little walther p22 after making a bet with someone about shooting. I ended up holstering the p22 and cleaning up the rest of the targets with my kahr. Everyone was impressed with it in every way. Nobody had even heard of them till I had my little beauty out.

As a side note if anyone here has a p22, winchester bulk is absolutely horrid to use. At least 3 ftf, fte per mag. Everyone there thought it was junk until I ran some federals through it which made life easier not having to jack a fresh round in with every shot, and I could shoot as well with my little 3.5 in barrel as they could with their fugly s&w 22a's.

Nice that your CW9 shoots so well for you. I guess having a .22 semi to also shoot saves you money over time?

Yeah a lot, I can go for hours and only spend $20. Plus it's just a fun little gun.

As for the kahr I'm nothing but impressed with it so far.

Had a P22 until about 2 months ago when I got a bug for a Sig P250 and traded it. In the end, very happy w/ my trade, but I do miss shooting the P22. I feel a target Ruger 10/22 in my future to burn up the stockpile of .22lr I have. The P22 was my last .22lr firearm after getting rid of a Smith 317 airweight snubby a few years back. Man, I wish I had kept that 317.

I wasn't overly impressed w/ the winchester bulk .22 either, but their 'black rifle' .22lr (M22 I think it is) ran pretty clean and never had a single failure to feed w/ it in my P22. Could be the guns, the P22 isn't known for build quality or consistency across produced units...so YMMV w/ that ammo, but I found it easy on the dirt and reliable in mine. It's a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than CCI minimags or stingers.

I've eyed that. I think it's the Q22 or m, what's it matter either way I'm too damn cheap to buy it. And yes I read the p22 was plagued with issues, mainly picky with ammo but up until that box of winchester it ate everything. Guess I'll stick to anything but that. Either way I think it's a great little plinker and plan on keeping it till it falls apart.

I think you'll be OK, only real BIG-ish issue is the slide cracking, and I think a new slide is only like $40 (if memory serves). Until Ruger released the SR22, the P22 was the best semi-auto plinker out there if you ask me, even w/ the issues. I think the ammo pickiness was older models, I had a P22Q and it at pretty much everything I fed it. No more FTF/FTE than any other .22lr auto pistol/rifle.

Yea, you could pick up a bull barrel .22, but at twice the weight, but the P22 was a better fit for my needs. I got mine for kid training, and a full/heavy target pistol wasn't going to work. Ultimately, the interest wasn't there and after I've seen a few other kids at the range waving pistols around w/ poor parenting and poor supervision, not that I'd have allowed that, but opted to unload it and move toward a .22 rifle (10/22 or the like) for initial training. I can more quickly correct sweeping w/ a rifle vs a pistol for the time being.

I just got the Sig Sauer Mosquito 22lr. After looking at the Walther and the Sig, I determented the Sig blows away the P22. The quality is fantastic on the Sig. Even the mag is better, a high quality medal mag. It feels great in your hand, like a "real gun". The Walther felt like a toy when I gripped it. The Sig runs well with CCI mini mags and Remington Golden Bullit value pack. There are 5 varations of the Mosquito. They usually run around $305 for the standard and up to $360 for some variations I got lucky and found the standard on sale from Palmetto Armory for $269 shipped. The Mosquito, like the S&W 22a & the Ruger SR22, is more like a battle pistol as opposed to a target pistol like the Ruger Mark III. It is great for skills practice at a fraction of the ammo cost. Besides, it is just plain fun to shoot. Anyone looking for a fantastic 22lr pisstol would be well served by considering the Sig Sauer Mosquito.

The new Ruger SR-22 (http://www.ruger.com/products/sr22Pistol/index.html) is gaining a lot of popularity.

The new Ruger SR-22 (http://www.ruger.com/products/sr22Pistol/index.html) is gaining a lot of popularity.Personally, The SR-22 was never a consideration. I do not like Ruger's idea of business. They keep introducing new guns while not being able to produce enough of any of their models to satisfy demand. Ruger is playing the public for a fool. Because of this, Ruger has lost a customer in me. This is my opinion. Your opinion my differ. But, I am firm in my belief.

I looked at the sig at the same time I bought the P22. In addition to kid training, my P22 purchase was also due to the (at the time) desire to pick up a PPQ at some point (i.e. cheap training tool). When I decided against that, the P22 w/ it's issues, became unnecessary to keep it. But the Sig also seemed to have plenty of complaints about ammo pickiness. But, I think almost anything .22lr is going to be picky at some level, just the nature of the beast.

I'll probably pick up a .22 pistol again some day, but it'll be a revolver, Smith 317 or 617. Or a ruger 22/45 lite.

The SR-22 is from what I've read probably the least picky .22lr semi auto (normal style semi auto) pistol out there. But it's only got 6 months in the market.

In the end, my 'A' answer to a .22lr for me would be the long rumored but not yet produced conversoin kit for my sig P250. That I would love.
