Where was my K9.....

So tonight I was watching a Blue Bloods rerun. Tom Selleck was giving a eulogy for an ex-cop. He talked about 9/11. It was pretty moving. I had my K9 beside me on the couch and started to think. It was made around '97-'98. It belonged to a New York cop. It struck me this gun might have been at the World Trade center on that terrible day. I'll never know for sure, of course.

I'll never forget- I got home from taking the kids to school and turned on the news. The 1st tower had just been hit. Mass confusion. No one had any idea exactly what was happening. Then the 2nd plane hit and it was pretty obvious it wasn't an accident. I remember saying "My God, the world will never be the same".

I was asleep in my rack, being as it was around midnight, moored in Darwin, AU. My roommate ran in and told me a plane hit the first building. I went back to sleep. He then ran in and said the second one hit. I knew the SHTF and tried to get back to sleep as we were getting underway the next morning. The CO came on the 1MC and wanted a 100% head count. I stayed in my rack.

Before the crack of dawn, I got the plant lit off and the ship underway straight to the Northern Arabian Gulf (NAG), as in off the coast of Pakistan. We put the Marines and their gear on the beach and then watched the most amazing fireworks show the world has ever seen around the 10th of October.

An unknown number of ships and submarines unleashed an unknown number of guided missiles at co-ordinated times just after nightfall, all heading to various parts of Afghanistan. Truly a sight to behold and one I'll never forget.

I know mine was made that Month and Year. It came from a young officer that flys choppers for nypd (Not used Much there) he sent me awesome aerial views of the rebuild! (See Avatar pic) I was in the towers 6pm 9/10 with my daughter lost 14 town residents the next day. I use to live 16 miles to there. clearly saw them the next. worst day ever!
