I don't have the money yet, but figuring Kahr isn't going to qualify the PM/CM45 in CA anytime soon, I looked at a Glock 30SF and already shot a G36. I admit I'm enamored with the G30 SF as it fits my hand well. I'll look for a long time before locking in because that's what I do, but wanted to ask for the thoughts of those who have it.
Besides do you like it or not, etc. what do you think is a possible price? I'd prefer one that is used and not too concerned about usage marks as long as it is 100% dependable.

Bought it new, kept it for a year then sold it to a co-worker for 450.00. Smooth shooter. The size and weight was just too much for me as a carry pistol.
If you plan on carrying it and can deal with the size and weight, go for it. 11 rounds of 45ACP is hard to beat.

I went back and forth between the 30 and the 36.
Wanted to talk myself into the 30 but it just felt so thick and the 36 felt so good. Also figured the 36 would carry a lot better.
It wasn't a SF though. I hear it makes a difference.

Here is a search on Gunbroker.com that will give you an idea of prices.

I have the G30 Gen 3 I picked up used, but like new with night sights for a trade in with my Ruger P89 and about $200, and it is a fine gun. I can't feel much difference between it and the SF. It is crazy accurate and feeds like a starved pig.
If it feels, good, get it. You won't regret it.

i had the 30sf but sold it because I found a good deal on a 1911 ultra. I have a glock 39 now and they aren't much different in size. It shoots great and carrys well... but it's thick compared to kahr's. Best of luck, i might consider picking a gen 4 up if I don't have the 39 then. pm45 and 39

Remember, SF does not mean it is any slimmer. The grip from to back is a tad smaller.

I would have bought a Glock originally but it felt too fat in my hand. My son has a G in .40 and was insistent on Glock. If it had felt good I'd have bought one before I ever heard of Kahr.
I'm amazed at the similarity in size of the G36 to the G30SF.
...............P45...........G36............G30SF
Length....6.07...........6.97............6.97
Height.....4.8.............4.76...........4.45
Width......1.01..........1.10............1.28
Barrel......3.64..........3.78............3.78
Weight....18.5..........20.11..........23.81
Capacity...6+1...........6+1...........10+1
I know it is heavy, especially loaded with 11 rounds of 45 ACP. It weighs about the same as my Colt. But it must weigh close to the G36 with a spare mag, and I won't carry a spare with 11rds in the gun.
That's my thinking anyway. I'm going to carry my Colt for a few days to make sure I can handle the weight.

Carry the Colt for a few days and the Glock might be a hard pill to swallow.
I've owned several 30's and a couple 36's. For reasons unknown I shot the 30's better than the 36, for all other reasons I preferred the 36.
I don't miss any of them, I know I can get another any time so I sold them to officers here when I couldn't get them a new one fast enough.
I have a 21SF in my night stand but that's the only one I got now days.

I know this is a .45 love fest.
But have to comment that my G27-357, when compared to a G30 SF,
is smaller, lighter and throws 125 gr 1300 fps 357 Sig rounds from it's 3.46" barrel.
When you add twin mags for reload the weight difference is very real.
Isn't it funny how gun manufacturers will usually list the weight of their guns
empty and often without a mag in it.
How many of us carry an empty gun with no mag LOL!

Actually that's worth noting. I've owned a few 27's also and they were not unpleasant to shoot, were plenty accurate and while still a brick with no asthetic value they work very well.
They are just large enough to make the 40 manageable. Not a bad option.

For some reason, to me, .45 shoots easier in Glocks (or most SA's I have shot) than equivalent in .40. I don't know why, but .40 just seems way snappier to me, so I tend to go 9mm >>> .45

I like my 30sf it has been 100% since brand new out of the box ... trigger seems better than a 17L I had for a short time.
I also own a G19 and find that when I use the Glock belt slide they each carry about equally well. It's a matter of do I want 10 rounds of 45 or 15 rounds of 9mm. I carry the mags loaded one down from max.
All of that said; you will most likely find me carrying a PM9 in a pocket holster.

Quite a few of the early 30SF pistols had "failure to return to battery" issues (mine was one of them). I imagine they've worked it out by now, but don't know for sure. If I were to get another, I think I'd go new just in case it needed some time at the mother ship.

Greg

I agree 100%. I don't care for the snappy crack. I found it not quite as bothersome in the 27 and ok in the larger frame versions. I actually find the 9 more obnoxious than the 45. The crack bang thing while not really recoil is annoying to me, can't put my finger on why.
Guess I'm just a born again 45 guy. Curse or blessing, I'm not sure why.

You and me both. Just received 500 rounds of GS 185 +p today. That gives me about 3000 rounds of 45 ACP to feed my ten 45's.

There are definitely some folks on GlockTalk that have had issues with
some G30SF and the single stack 45 (G36?? or whatever it is).
The G30 seems to be the least trouble prone of the three.
But even some G30s seem to have issues.
Correctable but issues just the same.
G27 gen 3 guns are nearly bulletproof
And in the immortal words of Jocko;
If it's too snappy, port the Folker!!!

I took a young lady today j(age 60 ) for her first shoot and she shot my K9 and did excellent with it., Shot my PM9 and did poorly but yet no issues at all.Shot my Ruger MK11 6 7/8" target and blew the target apart. she amazed me. She really did do well with the K9 though ad even commented that it was muc nicer to shoot than the PM9..

I shoot my MK40 better than the PM9, even though they are the same size. Hardly the same weight though.

This is true. I have a G27 and also purchased a Lone Wolf 40-9mm conversion barrel and some G26 magazines, and I have two guns in one.

I added a 357 Sig barrel and G33 mags too.
Now I've got three guns in one!!!
