I was at a gun show this past weekend and saw a PM9 (old style with blunt nose). The one concern I had was the side plate did not have the Torx screw but what looked like a sold pin of some sort; anyone know if this is a style of fastener used at one time on the PM9??

the pin is better than the screw, trust me on that. I have had the blunt nose for over 5 years, actually have two of them. the pin goes all the way through to the other side. U can't strip the pin.

a concern that is not a concern.

I like my blunt nose better than my new style... but it wouldn't make a difference to me which one it was if the price was right!

Jocko knows... they renamed the shorter slide version the PM9j (for Jocko)!!!

I got one. For me, fires all magazines equally well, and has never given even one problem at all. Its in my pocket as I type this! (the PM45 is on holiday today)

To me, whether it's a pin or a torx screw wouldn't matter because I can't think of a good reason to remove the side plate.

What if there was some crap stuck inside there? Say you had some blowback from a primer or such? Rare, but happens?

Perhaps so. But most of the mechanism behind the side plate is accessible from the inside after removing the slide.

Ok thanks for the information; I just was not sure if it was "factory" or not. I may have let a good deal slip through my fingers:mad:. Jocko; I thought it might run all the way through the frame, I did see a small pin on the other side of the side plate.

not sur ewhen kahr went to the torx screw either. I don't remember seeing it on the blunt version Might just be a cost thing as the pin side plate never gave an issue, never worked loose was easy to remove if need and no chance of stgripping the treads either. There is really no nee dto take that plate off unless u ar ehaving issue and feel it is in that area or like ACJB stated, u get some sh!t back in that area and want to clean it. U do no harm buy taking that palte off either, just soemthing that "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Kahr calls it a blow out plate but actually they had to make that plate opeing on the polymer kahrs in order to get thos parts in the frame, as there was no other way, but no doubt if u have a kaboom that plate will blow off as probablywill the rest of the gun. I have seen photos of the plate blown offby a kaboom but also the entire frame wasw totaled to, so to me its a wash as to whether it doesn any damn good..
