At what letter series did KAHR start the blackened stainless frame and slides on the K9? I picked up an NYPD Police trade-in at a very good price today; the SN is BAOxxxxx.

Have no clue, I figured the blackened series was like ordering with nite sights. the serial numbhers of the actual K9 would not change, only the model number on the box. showing what additions are on the gun. I don't think the BA numbers designated blacvk slides.

Well the mystery is solved thanks to a prompt email reply from KAHR; it is black oxide finish on carbon steel. I bought it as one of the NYPD trade-ins. It came in a cardboard box with the model number written on it. I saw others that were clearly marked "stainless" on the frame and slide but these were later series. I didn't know if the entire NYPD contract was for black stainless or just the later ones.

Mine has minor holster wear at the muzzle and back of the slide but inside it is perfect; little if any wear on the slide or frame rails, barrel hood, or breech face. For what I paid for it I intend to use it as a truck gun but was curious about the material here in humid East Texas. I guess I will wax it and just keep it wiped down with oil.
