I have a CW9 which I love but as of late I have noticed that my magazine release is being pushed while I carry IWB. This is obviously quite the problem because if I ever had to use it, it would go bang once and then I'm fumbling around on the floor for my magazine (provided its not in 4 pieces by then). Anyone have any advice. This problem has made me look to the Walther PPS 9mm to solve my problem. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with my CW9 just yet but my magazine has been released 4 times now and it gives me the eeby jeebies!!

thatis very strange. We don't read about taht at allon this forum so something ha sto be wrong with the rig your carrying or the mag release itswelf.

check this out. when the magazine is in the gun is the release button totally flush on the right side. It is sticks out just a tad even then the release button is out of spec. Hard to believe to is that maybe the magrelease spring rod is to weak. I would call kahr ans ask for a new srping rod and maybe even a new mag release. That outta solve the issue. Thousands carry IWB and never com;ain about that. IT IS NOT A KAHR ISSUE. 4 tmes also could also be tha tthe magazine is just not lockingup properly. damn I have carreid my PM9 in my tight jeans front pocket for ovber 5years iin a lowly uncle mikes and it has never release the magazine. anything can happen, we all know that but this is just not a kahr issue.
call kahr and ask for Jay and I bet they willbe very willing to send u both parts.

Thanks jocko. The magazine release sticks out pretty far but I've also noticed this on other CW/CM models that I've seen in gun shops. I'll call Kahr today. I told my guy at my LGS about this yesterday and he said the same thing you're saying jocko. He said he's never heard of this problem before.

Tucson, I carry IWB in a PJ like a zillion other Kahr owners. I've also had my magazine released in my Comp-Tac MTAC.

Keep the advice coming. I don't really wanna part with my CW9 but I will if I keep having this problem.

what u might also try is just slamming in the magazine a few dozen times to see if that maybe takes away any slight burr thyat might be on the magazine button. U have nothing to loose, ur not gonna break it or anythinjg either..

Jocko, I emailed Jay like you said and he mailed me a magazine release assembly to install free of charge. I swear he emailed me back within 2 minutes. Excellent customer service!!

Naw, couldn't possibly be the not very stiff magazine catch rod spring. Naw, couldn't possibly be the minimal engagement distance designed into the magazine/magazine catch interface so that virtually any movement of the button inward disengages the magzine. Naw, couldn't possibly be the torque of the floorplate toe twisting the magazine.

In seriousness, my CW9 released magazines both from the follower pushing the catch out of the magazine and the inexpicable how the H did that happen in my pocket holster kind.

Modifying the followers stopped the round 2-3 and 3-4 left in the magazine releases. I am still out with the jury on the general easyness of pushing the button without intent by holsters, thigh, or voodoo. It isn't news that they come loose.

I also trimmed off the finger hook on all 6 of my magazines so it is flush, up and down, with the front of the frame. That way there is no, or less, torqueing of the magazine, less leverage to twist it. It serves no purpose anyhow compared to simply being staight down the front of the frame.

I am considering shortening the push button side of the release so there is less sticking out. So you really had to push the damn thing on purpose and push hard.
