I've got XSSights Big Dot front sights on both my P9 and K9 and my old eyes love it.
I just bought a CW9 and would like a Big Dot sight on it also. XS Sights doesn't make a Big Dot sight that fits the CW9's mounting system. They told me they could mill a dovetail slot and mount a Big Dot sight for a P9. The price is pretty reasonable.
Kahr said it would void my warranty, so I wouldn't have it done until after the gun is broken in and reliable. I asked them if they could mill the slot (same slot as they put in the P9 slide at the factory) to preserve my warranty and they said no. Seems strange that they won't perform work on a customer's gun that they do every day in their factory. It's just a basic modification that any competent pistolsmith can do.
Has anyone had this done to their CW9 or CW40? I'm wondering how it looks and if the two holes show after the sight is installed.
If you have had this done, are pictures possible?
Thanks,
Stan P

Word was (past few months) that XS was working on a big dot set for the C series Kahrs that would not require a dovetail cut, but mount using the two stock holes.
I don't know if they are still working on them or what??? ....Did you just talk to the recently? Did they mention anything about a non dovetail set?

I just talked to them a few days ago.
They said:
"We are looking into such a sight. Those two pegs the factory plastic sight uses are very tiny which in turn requires an even tinier screw to go up into one to hold it in place ala Glock.
Our main concern is not from recoil but from the knocks and bumps the sights will get when carried IWB or in a pocket carrier. Those forces are much harder on a front sight than thousands of rounds fired so we are doing a lot more carry testing of the prototypes before we will decide to put the sights on the market. Another company had a similar sight but it is no longer offered and it could be that this is the reason why.
Right now the only option is to have a dovetail cut made across the slide for the new front sight. This installation we know will stay and the cost to do this installation is $70 + the sights $120 and usually $9 return S&H."
So it sounds like their front sight for the CW series may be a while.

Stan,
What kind of cost are they quoting for the dovetail? I'm also interested in the big dot for my CW & CM. Not sure I want to wait for the pegged version to be offered.
Thanks,
Kevin

It is in his reply to me above.
"installation is $70 + the sights $120 and usually $9 return S&H."
Installation includes cutting the dovetail. That is the same thing they quoted me two years ago when I ask about getting the big dots for my CW9.

Don't know how I missed that. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hell, that's a crazy high price for a slightly larger front sight dot!

Not just a larger front sight dot. It includes a tritium dot in the front sight and a Tritium stripe on the rear sight.
For those of us with old eyes, the Big Dot sights are a great option.

I've got a Big Dot on my Glock 36. Yes I like them for my older eyes too. But, for $199, half the price of the gun, I wouldn't do it.
