View Full Version : PM9 trigger and extractor issues

First post, hope this is right forum!
I have 2 PM9's. One has the loaded chamber indicator and external safety and the other is a regular model PM9. When I dry fire the regular model, the trigger seems gritty as if it's moving the slide and rubbing on something. The external safety model trigger is smooth and crisp with no grit or slide movement. I have cleaned and lubed it properly. The only thing I can visually see is the trigger bar movements seem to be a little different on both models. The non-safety model seems like it's rubbing and pushing up on the slide.
Also the extractor looks different on both guns. The external safety model sits flush and the regular model does not. I've attached a side by side picture.
I bought the regular model used and have not had the chance to shoot it yet. I did however swap the slides and the regular model still has a gritty rough trigger.

Thanks for any input!

Have you stripped the slide down and cleaned out the striker and extractor channel?
Could be some debris in there causing a gritty feel and skewing the extractor as well.
It's relatively easy to do and there are several tutorials here.

I was going to but first I swapped the slide from my other PM9 and it was still making the trigger feel gritty.

Cancel this. Person I purchased it from will take it back. I should have known by the low price.

might have been a bad idea...I had the same trigger grittinness on my CM9 and it was solved by a little sandpaper on the trigger bar. I had to take my trigger apart, but your issue might have been fixed with without having to take it all apart.

yup, IMO bad idea. It was in the trigger bar and as u stated a very fixable thing, without even taking the lower apart. Sometimes just a tadof grease right in that area and 200 round later that area is smooterbuy just usage. the extractor picture could mayb elook like that as right now nothing is behind that extractor either. I would like to have looked at a photo of the extracotr of each side with a live round i the gun. I see nothing wrong in that area. I hate to nit pick on a gun when it just has not even had rounds out of it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Hows do we even know which extractor in the photos is what it should look like??? I think I would have given the used slide model a complete tear down and through cleaning--might surprise u.. but heh he took it back in good faith to, so no loss on either side. The PM9 is as good a gun as IMO u can ever get. The gritty feeling this forum group here could have walked u through that with ease.
also , welcome aboard, I was not trying to hammer u here either as ur 3rd post here tells me, that had u come on here stating ur issues, I am just so sure this fix was simple as farting. That is what this fourm is noted for:third:

Noted for farting... yeah, thats us!
Farting, is not simple.
So many different types of farts - ya can't choose 'em, but ya do need to "predict" them.
the Popcorn fart
the Toot
the Whistle
the Boing'er
the Blubbery fart
the Juicey Wet fart
the SBD fart
the Killian's Red* fart
and my favorite...
the Currey fart
Lack of preparedness... can be a real game changer, as well as shorts changer, if you wear 'em.

I was drinking iced tea when I read this. Absolutely amazing that I managed to keep from choking or spewing tea all over my keyboard! :puke:
Funny stuff!!!

I had to chuckle when I stumbled upon this thread. I am the owner of gun the op is referring to. I had put around 150 round thru it since I bought it (brand new) without a malfunction at all. I was looking for info on how to fully detail strip the slide, so here I came to look. I did detail strip the slide, and found a lot of brass shavings behind the extractor and inside the firing pin channel. Gun is cleaned, lubed, and everything functions fine. Extractor now sits flush with the side of the slide. The trigger on the other hand, I think just needs to be broken in a bit more. I guess somebody else will get a good deal on it now!
