Update Aug.22,
I had Kahr send me a new mag release button which I installed in my CM9 and it fixed the mag dropping problem. Shot 121 rounds today and not one drop. Yeah!
JR
Took my new cm9 out for the 1st time and had magazines drop down out of the gun at times. At first it was almost every mag, 3 or 4 rounds in or near the end, they would drop down slightly so the next round would not feed. After almost 300 rounds it was down to the last or next to last round, the occasional mag would drop down.
I used 3 new 6 round mags, 1 used 6 rounder and 1 new 7 round mag.
The mags felt like they were locking in tight but would drop 1/8 inch at times.
This was happening to both me and my son. I thought we might be hitting the mag release so we were careful to stay away from it or shoot one handed. When the magazines stayed in the gun there were no failures to feed or extract and the slide locked back on empty mag.
I have a PM40, PM9 and CW45 and carry the pm40 or pm9 daily since 2003 so I am not new to Kahrs.
Hope this clears up with more firing.
Anyone else had this happen?

easy way to check this out, with the mag out of the gun look on the right side ad seehow that mag release button looks. It should be flush with thge grip. Now with mag in the gn look again , it should be again flush withthe grip. If it sticks out any at all, u are not getting a good magazine lockup. Call kahr and ask for a new mag release button. takes 5 minutes to installl. there is a tutorial on the kahr teck section showing how to do it even. Once they say the wills end u a new release button, then take one of ur magts and just ram it in about 2 dozen or more times to see if by chacne there was a burr on the mag button and slamming in the magazine sometimes takes this burr away. Ur not gonna hurt anything.
easy waqy to see if your thumb is doing it is to shoot it left handed. sounds to me like an ouot of spec mag button..

Did you notice much difference in the shape of the shelf for lack of a better word on the new mag release.
Seems others that got new ones found they were shaped a little different, angled different and more depth.

no mag drops from my PM9 yet but i have a metal mag catch on the way just the same because the plastic one in it now allows a lot of sloppy play with the magazine....just a matter of time before it became the issue repeated over and over here.

In case anyone is interested, here's a shot of a Kahr polymer magazine catch, notice the metal insert pinned into it): http://i52.tinypic.com/25803zd.jpg

IMO there waqsnever a real issue with the polymer mag release, but my bet was it was even more expensive tomake than the MIM one as the MIM one is one peace and ur photo shows the metal insert that actually made the contact with the mag tub cutout, but this was a two part process and my thinkn was it cost more to produce and the insert sometimes was out of spec. Most people never knew the polymer catch was part metal and they condemed it for being a cheapo plastic catch when indeed it was not a cheapo. I never had one issue ever with my polyumer mag catch, althugh when they came out with the MIM one I did insert it, for reasons I know not why. nice photo greg.

my current mag catch is like the one Greg has pictured. im not feeling too good on the new replacement if its the same thing i already have.
is there an all steel version for the PM9 or does the new plastic one have a larger metal lip to hold the mag better?
edited: the more i monkey with this thing the more it seems like the mag catch spring is weak. it takes very little effort to depress the botton and drop a magazine....is there a stronger spring available?
i can drop the magazine with my trigger finger at the end of the trigger stroke or with the side of my thumb holding a normal grip. it takes very little pressure to drop the magazine, very little button travel to do so.... i really want this pistol to work as well as the MK9 and K9 i use to have but im thinking Glock really is the only real player in this market so far....
my frustration with waiting for a free bee to fix a problem i shouldnt even have has led me to just now place a paid order for a new mag catch and mag catch spring.
upon further inspection........i used a mag tube without the guts and looked down the top and see that the metal insert from the plastic mag catch barely pokes into the mag body. ive re-installed the mag catch spring and mag catch to ensure they are seated correctly and there is still very little "lip" holding the mag in in place. i also found that the slide sits a bit forward of the frame leaving a slight shelf....like it doesnt line up even.....
used guns, boy i tell ya.....

Jerry,
I don't believe the poly catch is in production (or the supply system) anymore. When I ordered a new catch for my CW9 the one I received was all metal. I'm not aware of any stronger catch springs being available. The springs in my two Kahrs feel adequate to the task, perhaps the one you have now is defective.

Greg, the woman i spoke to today told me my gun was out of warranty based on the sn# bla bla bla..... i told here thats fine i wanted a new mag catch to replace the plastic one i have with the metal insert. she said she cant take orders over the phoneand that they only make the plastic mag catches for the PM9, so i asked her just to check to ensure the parts are in stock 018PM9 and 017PM9 or something like that...mag catch and spring according to their site....
i placed the order, now the week long or more wait to see if i can make this thing work right. if the mag catch lip just poked a bit farther into the mag body it would work better....
