Just a wild guess but I'd imagine that the NYPD equipment would have been modified in order to make fire control operation real difficult. Yes?

If so, how would the new owner of the CDNN Kahr trade-in K-9s put the fire control system back to factory specifications?

If the used trade-in requires a trip back to the factory to bring it back to OEM specs, that'd add about 100.00 to the delivered price.

Any new owners of the CDNN NYPD Kahr trade-in care to comment? Please.

Thanks,

salty

naw that ain't right. Your nypd kahr, the only mod made to it and also the mod was made by Kahr not NYPD. They don't do those things to their guns, FACTORIES DO if possale.

If you have a nypd k9, u have a 1/2" trigger travel and absolutley nothing else done to the gun. You for years could only buy the nypd version from kahr unless u made a special order for the elite version which then had the 3/8" trigger travel.

U can send ur gun back to kahr and get the elite triger system n the gun but postage both ways and service and parts, ur talking probalby $160 and for what 1/8" less trigger travel. NOT WORH IT IMO. My used K9 has the nypd trigger and I can honestly say I can't tell the difference in the trigger over my 2 PM9, I shoot the K9 far better even.

OEM specs in the K9 up until a year or so was 1/2" trigger travel as 90% of all K9's sold back then had that trigger in them. One can still order a new NYPD trigger in his K9 today even. Kahr actully has two OEM specs for the K9's today

They were produced by Kahr for NYPD. They were not taken off the line and modified. Your correct in that the trigger is longer?

Most do not notice the difference without a trigger gauge. Some actually prefer it.

I would not purchase one with the intention of sending it in for a trigger swap.

Several here have purchases those recently, I'm sure they'll be along shortly with their thoughts.

Longer... yes, heavier... no. Kahr has made the triggers, whether standard K9 or Elite, the same pull weight all along. It was the NYPD desire to have a much higher trigger pull, 12 lbs, that led them to drop the K9 as an approved off duty gun.

Judging by the number of K9s on the market, the Kahr must have been very popular with the NYPD, as there must be thousands of them offered for sale.

I just checked my S.A.W. K9 trade-in next to my two month old CW9. In direct comparison I cannot tell that there is any difference in length of trigger travel. The weight of trigger seems to be exactly the same. However, the K9 trigger is perceptably smoother. The CW9 only has about 200 rounds through it so far and will likely smooth up with use. http://i769.photobucket.com/albums/xx338/Tslepebull/002-3.jpg
If you can get your hands on one of these trade-in K9's you will not be sorry.
