With the handgun and iron sights, or a rifle and that bipod?

The only handgun I can consitently hit a small area with at 50 yds is my S&W 629 .44mag.

Heck, I can just about see the target.

50 yards with my XD or 1911 is a piece of cake.

You're a much better shot that I am.

3 1/2" swingers at 50 is a real challenge for me.

6"? 8 out of 10 is average, but 3 1/2" micro's?

not so much :o

If you magnify that about 4 more times I might see it clearer. I can make it out now.

At 50 yds, my sights completely cover a 3.5" target with a pistol, so it's pure luck if I hit it. Now, with a rifle, different story.

I can hit a milk jug at 50- 100 yds with that 629. That's close enough for me :D

Definitely some good shooters here at KahrTalk. :4: I'm humbled, not even in the same league. :third:

I really like shooting a .45 at a milk jug at 100 yards. I don't always hit it but where I shoot there is a 30 foot berm and you san see the bullet splash to tell how you;re doing.

It's funny, that 230 gr. moves slow enough that after you shoot you can almost count 1 mississippi before it gets there. I was watching a hickok45 video yesterday where he shoots at his 80 yard gong testing a Ruger 1911. They zoomed way in on the gong and I swear you could see the round going down range. Too cool.

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAZ5EYxpl2o look around 16:08 in the video.

Not really. Just a lot of practice. Both are out of 5" barrels. With my 4" 357 3" groups and smaller have been shot.

My dept used to require handgun quals as far out as 50yards. Now handguns quals are 25 and in. Beyond that it is shotguns and rifles.

Like I said, if shooting 4" or smaller swingers at 50yds is a "piece of cake" to you....you're a lot better shooter than I am. :)

Gimme about 6 months, and I'll be at about half the cake.

Hey Les, that 629 is an amazing gun, I have a 6" classic. It groups better at distance than one of my AK's does. I had a great load worked up, pleasant to shoot and very accurate, with a 240gr SWC cast bullet, and some HS6 powder. I used HS6 because it worked for the .45 too.

Looks like one 45ACP round would cover both of the smaller swingers with one round at that range...

That said.

I'd light those swingers up with my 10/22! It would sound like the bells of Christmas...:D

Spending big bucks isnt' really necessary.

There are many rimfire pistols that will shoot accurately at 50 yds.

Of course, after the first time I shot a Model 41, I had to have one. :o

Mine is a 5" Classic. I have primarily shot PMC through it and was surprised at how accurate I was with that gun. Honestly, past 25 yards, I'm usually not the best shot with a pistol. That 629 makes me look good! :D

At 50 I can usually kick a little dirt up and hit the target.

Won a bet against a Glock lover with my P9 shooting bowling pins at 50 yards. Of course I knew I could do it, had practiced before, and he wanted to shoot his new ported Glock with 180 grain loads so I had a bit better plan.

I'm sure I could hit that backdrop 8 out of 10 times at that distance with a pistol.
