Ran the p40 hard yesterday. One malfunction was the slide stop worked its way out. Did not expect this so i went through my mal function routine to no avail. Not sure if i need to tighten spring or if running a compact gun, i put pressure on the slide stop post on the ejection port side of the gun. If so would shortening that post to b flush with frame be prudent. Thoughts?

Lets putit this way. I mademy slide stop pin flush with theright side for cosmetic looks oly. the slide stop shouldnot move out, Ur finger did not do it, but the spring could need some tweeking.. Check to seethat maybe it is not (the tip) bentinward to much and not ridingin that little groove ron the nsideof the sldie stop nub. U should hear a nice snap when u install the slide stop. If allis right, it should not move out freely. I like m flusyh fit pin, u can see it on the forum here under Jocko's custom PM9. U will need a pointed small something tonow move the slide stop lever out for cleaning but fokk it, it looks cool and flush and it is no big deal either. Remember the screwin that little spring never really6 tightens either. It snugs as best, so keep that in mind as ur screwing the metal screw with fine ass threads into polymer. SNUG IS GOOD

Lets put it this way. I made my slide stop pin flush with the right side for cosmetic looks only. the slide stop should not move out, Ur finger did not do it, but the spring could need some tweeking.. Check to seethat maybe it is not (the tip) bentinward to much and not ridingin that little groove ron the nsideof the sldie stop nub. U should hear a nice snap when u install the slide stop. Remember the screwin that little spring never really6 tightens either. It snugs as best, so keep that in mind as ur screwing the metal screw with fine ass threads into polymer. SNUG IS GOOD snug it an 1/8 of a turn and retest. If it still pushes out freely, then loosen an 1/8 of aturn and retest. It will come to you. Could also have been just a quirk to and may be when u put the slide stop b ack in possably6 it did not go fully in and u thought it did. A one time event is IMO not much to worry about as freeky things do happen..

thanks Jocko. taking chill pill now and will se what happens in future. Ran another 50 rnds through it after the event and no prob. The last 50 rnds where not rapid like the earlier 150 though with mag dumps and shoting on the fly. I did notice that when I rack the sucker I do hit that SR post. I am running this gun way harder than in any SD situation. For the most part, it is worthy of such. Or as you say. I "shoot the fukker like I stole it". However I looked like a bigger jack hole than I normally am trying to clear the thing during a drill when a type 1,2 or 3 malfunction aint the problem.
