Is it better to use +p ammo when breaking in a new cm9 or just regular. I usually use federal 115 grain fmj, do I need to change it up.

I used Winchester White Box (WWB) from Walmart in the 100 round value packs.
I hardly ever use +P ammo, For SD, I use 124gr Hydra Shoks. An older bullet for sure, but tried and true. It's said to expand reliably at lower velocities one would get from the 3" barrel vs. the 4 or 5" test barrel's they use for their published FPS and FPE. My pistol is not a CM9, but has a 3.35" barrel and should be perform pretty close to the CM9.

Welcome to the forum! I broke my cm9 in with (and continue to use) whatever wally world or the local sporting goods store has in stock, and never had a single issue! Break that thing in and have fun! (be safe) Once you get to know that super sweet lil gun, you will soon realize why we cm9 owners adopted :D as our unofficial symbol! :D

I shoot almost nothing but wally world wwb ammo in m kahrs. I guess u can shoot in your gun with +P ammo. kinda expensive when just normal shooting willdo the same thing. thatis ur choice, to make. Ur certainly not gonna hurt anything with +P ammo. Everyone hastheir owns thoughts about this, so take mine as "mine only".
I don't think the kahr owners manual tells u what ammo to shoot in ur gun for the 200 round break in. Ur gonna get good slide action to do what is necessary to smooth ur kahr out with wwb . Just sayin

Save your money. The 115 Federals should work just fine for breaking in the gun.

I don't think it matters.
Strip, clean, lubricate, load, fire and repeat.
I'm one crazy _(*&*(&*( so I usually blast through 200 in one session.
In-fact I usually try to use 200 SD rounds just to kill two birds with one stone.
But my MK40 Elite was fussy and misbehaved for the first 200.
Even off and on for the next 200.
Now she eats GDHP, Ranger Ts and HST like candy.
So If I got a second Kahr?
1) I'd run 200 or more cheap FMJs of any kind till she broke in.
2) Then what ever SD round count gives you warm and fuzzies.

^What they said. WWB or whatever Wallyworld has for cheap. If you want NATO strength rounds with a little more pop similar to +p rounds, try the S&B 115 gr FMJ.

But make sure to run at least some SD ammo through it after your break-in to see if it cycles well, whatever you are gonna carry.

+1 on really trying your carry ammo choice. You want to make sure that works! And for break in, I would suggest reputable factory ammo and stay away from the steel-cased stuff. I use only brass-cased or aluminum-cased Blazers for the range... whatever is cheapest!

Whenever I break in a new pistol, I strip it down, give it extra heavy lube [even polymer frames] and then run a couple hundred rounds of full metal jacket. Then strip, clean and run your carry ammo. Don't trust the gun until you have it running 100% reliably.

fmj and hp ammo can act differently. U damn well better test out any defense rounds. Some can be finicky in some guns, some are fine. go with the "fine" and u will be good to go. No doubt the most popular round on this forum in 9mm is 124 grain gold dots. Not sure u can go worng with that round in the pipe.
