Another great character actor has passed... at age 95... according to the NY Times:

I thought he had died years ago, but then he appeared in a few things sort of recently. He sure played a lot of different roles and characters, and got at least one Oscar.
R.I.P., Ernie.

Even though I was only 11 years old in 1955 I remember being being truly touched by his acting in the movie "Marty" for which he won an Oscar.

Dang, another good man gone. I grew up on McHales Navy, and never knew he was serious actor until I saw Marty on Netflix or somehing a few years back, which I'm not ashamed to sat that parts of made me a bit teary. Also saw him in Emporer of the North, and he played a great bad guy. He did make a junk movie or two, Devil's Rain comes to mind. I suppose he needed the $$$. But he mostly played pretty good roles. He will be missed.

They say that deaths come in threes. First Andy Griffith now Ernest Borgnine then ?

Yep. You gotta keep from getting that "whiteout"... kind of the "bright light" that most near-death experiencers talk about.
