This is the last time I'm ordering anything that's sent by USPS. In 3 months I've chased down the postal truck 4 times to get my package. If this was operated and owned by a private company these people would not have a job. OK I'm through with the rant.

I think shipping problems are a regional issue. I've never had problems with USPS or UPS. FedEx is a different story. They have the best prices, but after multiple bungled packages, I refuse to ship via their service and will pay extra to not receive packages from them when possible.

I work for the post office as a rural carrier. Did the carrier just leave a notification and take the package with them? If it is something that needs to be signed for, there has to be an attempt at the door unless there is a safety hazard like dogs or construction. If its a lazy carrier, then they need to be held accountable. Call into the office and talk to the manager, if that does not work try the postmaster. I really enjoy working as a carrier and know that the one thing under my control is customer service and I strive to do well every day.

Very well stated. So nice to see someone who strives to please the customer!

I have had more problems with UPS. Zero with FedEx.
I had a home studio recorder/studio console shipped through UPD to my house, and it looked like the thing fell off the truck and was was ran over by the truck 3 or 4 times! I also had a high end DSLR that came in a box that looked like it had been shot up at the range.

I have good rapport with USPS, FedEx, and UPS carriers. I usually meet the last two at the truck or midway... it's about 140 feet to the street and the ladies appreciate my helping when it's an ammo order. I provide cold bottled water to the letter carriers and I know that they appreciate it. My computer station is handy for watching for deliveries.
FedEx is really sneaky, though, they wait until I'm in the bathroom... really! I have a video surveillance setup and the front is covered by one wireless camera and I can carry the small monitor around. Last week I was waiting on some parts for my wife's Volvo and had just stepped out of the shower, when I saw the van pull up on the street. I wrapped the towel around me and went to the door. I told the guy... a regular carrier... that I had known he would come while I was in the shower. He had a good laugh.
It's usually no problem, because I have standing orders to leave the packages at the door, but when expecting return of a pistol from Kahr, I have to sign for that, and I've always been at home, but usually in the bathroom... it seems... when one of those returns!
One day I saw the UPS van stop in the curve about 70 yards away, and one of the two guys was picking up a small package that had fallen out the door! Stuff happens!
I'm still waiting for one of those money bags to fall off a Brinks or Wells Fargo truck, though. You see those incidents once in a while and wonder how the heck that could happen! The guards usually don't notice it, either! I would return that money, though.
Did I ramble enough??
