But is a projectile shooter.

Jonesing here at the house cause I'm backed up with work and can't get to the range. When I can get out, it friggin rains!

Ok, what I need is some suggestions for a pellet pistol, preferably a one pump pneumatic to shoot off the deck in the back of the house. I've seen a Beeman (can't remember the model number) at Walmart and Academy going for about $40 or so. Gets a little under 500 fps with one pump.

Anybody know about these?

That's probably the P17. I don't have any first hand experience with it, but it gets generally good reviews at Pyramyd Air:

How about 44rd of .46 cal in 22rd repeating shots under one air charge. With enough impact to cut small trees in half at 20yds? Of course that would be the Girandoni air rifle (http://www.topairgun.com/girandoni) from 1790 that Lewis & Clark used on their famous journey from East coast to West coast and return.

I've often wondered about a serious air rifle (Note that it is NOT a firearm) for self defense. This one would qualify as would a modern version with a scuba tank as an air reservoir.

Yep, it's the P17. I did read the first tag before but not the second. Seems like the guy really likes it for the price. May just have to pick one up.

I do have some dead trees in the lot next door that need felling but I think that I'll get the lot owner to do it. Either that or just breakout the chain saw. (Cheaper than a big bore air rifle, but probably not as much fun)

Thanks guys.

I've had a couple of pellet pistols (co2), and just wasn't impressed with the "feel" or performance. Most times I'd just pick up one of the old Daisy Red Riders and plink away with them. What I would prefer over all the above is a nice Gamo pellet rifle. Something fun to plink with as well as having a very practical "use".

For "quiet" plinking, or at least very low noise level, I've been wanting to hone my reloading skills to shoot wax boolits with my revolvers. I drilled out a few .38 spl flash holes, pressed them into soft wax, primed the cases and found it would be well worth the trouble. They shoot great out to 10-15 feet (accurately) with your real firearm, and no louder than a kid's Roy Rogers cap gun....oh, I forgot.... those ain't politically correct any more.

Have I rambled enough yet?

Not finished.... have to start a new thread to brag about my latest score:D

My son and I picked up a real nice CO2 powered Airsoft pistol this weekend from Sports Authority that shoots the 6mm plastic BB's for 50 bucks plus a jar of BB's and 25 CO2 cartridges...

The thing is modeled after a HK semi auto and feels nice in the hand and darned if the thing is very accurate out to 20 feet or so and can be fired indoors...We shot it into a card bord box with a target taped over the open end with a towel inside for a back stop and was able to keep all shots inside a 3 inch circle with no problem at all...The real cheap plastic spring powered ones are junk so if you are interested in an Airsoft pistol go for the CO2 powered ones...

Very cheap, accurate and fun practice for when you cant get to the range for the real thing...

Hi JFootin, I went home for lunch and got the model number if you're interested...Its a HK USB CO2 Airsoft Piston Model number 11407658....

It's not really made by HK but the manufacturer has the license to make a model patterned after the real gun but it has the feel and weight of the real one to the hand and except for the orange cone at the muzzle looks like a real pistol

If you want to see it and others go to the Sports Authority web site and search for Airsoft Pistols...I see the one I bought is now on sale if you buy it on their web site (just my luck)...Just Google Airsoft and there's tons of cool stuff out there in all price ranges...I just went to Sports Authority because I knew they sold mid price ones and they are close by and I don't like buying something like this over the internet without being able to see it first...

There are better but more expensive Airsoft pistols out there if you really get into the whole Airsoft competetive shooting (much like paint ball where you have teams going against each other) and I wanted one modeled after a full size S&W M&P so it would fell like my real pistol but the one M&P I found at Bass Pro Shop shot real metal BB's not plastic so I went with the HK which has a good feel and a metal slide and is safe to shoot inside the house...The box said 360 fps velocity and thats more than enough for indoor practice...

Try one out, We had a blast shooting it and we even set up a quasi IDPA course in the basement to practice shooting on the move which was a hoot...We shot all afternoon for just a few bucks worth of BB's and 5 CO2 cartridges so you can't beat that for cheap fun practice...
