I went to take my new cm9 for the 200 round break in. It was cleaned and lubed according to tips and instructions. First there was only one minor hiccup, one of the cases did not eject properly and got stuck when the slide went back to feed the next round (the front end was sticking out and the bottom was the part that was caught) Is that a failure to eject? I am not to worried about that, more curious than anything.

Then through the first 6 or 7 mags the slide would not lock back after the last round was fired. After that it was 50/50 for the next 15 mags, then it locked back the next 4, and from then on it did not lock back till I was done shooting.

I thought since it was getting better as time went on, it was okay, but then my last few mags were just like the first.

Is this an area of concern or normal break in? I am going to clean and lube it tonight and will be taking it back out on Saturday for some more shooting.

On a side note, it was a pleasure to shoot. Lots of fun and as accurate as I could be. With the exception of the slide not locking back, I was thoroughly impressed with this gun.

check to seeif the recoil sring is on correcrt, with the open end towards the front of the slide. My bet is ur recoil springs are still strong and have not yet taken their designed set and u will just need more rounds to get to this lock back thing. Best way to test the lock back thing is to just load 4 rounds instead of the entire magazine. that way u can check for lock back faster to. A good grip is needed to keep the slide doing what it should also. report back in another 100 rounds or so. another way to test out if to see if the springs could be the culprit is to shoot a couple mags of +P defense ammo, but again going with 4 rounds per mag, so tha tin a box of 25 u get at least 6 chances to test it out. Hotter rounds will normally do the job.

I'd check out that mag also to see if there is something wrong with the follower or if there is a piece of something in there that shouldn't be there. Even if you find nothing I'd give it a good cleaning on the inside.

I'd put money on the slide release spring .

charlie has a good p;oint here. U can check to see how that slide release spring should look like if allis well. go to the kahr tech section and hit on cw45 fixes by GB6491. He shows in photo detail how that little spring should look etc andhow to adjust if needed.

My PM9 didn't lock back on the first couple mags but after that it started and was flawless after that. I think it's just part of the break-in.

I repeat. Try some hotter ammo, if it works right with them then just consider the gun still shooting itself in with lower power ammo..
