Does any body know if Kahr makes a stainless steele guide rod for the cw45? If so is it sold by Kahr or after market?

+1 on Steve Bedair. He makes a nice product and turns it around quickly.

I've got Bedair SS guide rods on both my Sigs (P220/45,P239/357) and love them.
Very well made, fast service and reasonably priced.

I found it at Kahr's site. It is for the CW40, but the little note says fits the 45 also...

I've been on the fence about getting one of those Bedair SS guide rods for my CW9.

Are they a little heavier than the stock guide rods?

Can you perceive any difference in how the gun shoots or is it just better looking?

They are a little heavier.
Not enough that I could notice.
Doesn't shoot any different to me.
It's just aesthetics really... IMHO

That's what I thought Barth.... but they do look great.

I may try one when I change out my recoil spring just because.

I looked at the Bedair web sight and they do make them for the cw45. Now that I see the fine print on the Kahr sight and the cw40 fits the cw45. Is the Bedair worth double the price?
What do you think is different about them?

I can only go by mine. It's a beautiful piece of work. It's purely an aesthetic improvement but I got one for my NYPD turn in K9. I replaced springs and the rod. It's heavy, finely machined SS and looks awesome.

Would the stock rod work? Yeah, it did. Would a direct replacement from Kahr work, yeah it would.

Do the factory rims work on my F150? yeah they do. Would a set of Cragar Mags work on it? Hell yeah and look good doing it too.

Good analogy, Tinman. Like putting a set of mags on a vehicle. Purely aesthetic, but sure looks nice. Just seems proper on an all steel gun.

I doubt seriously that the perp will have the time to fully appreciate the aesthetics of the SS guide rod. Just sayin'.

I think you were looking at the price for the checkered end... He sells a plain end that is less expensive.

I measured my guide rod last week so I could make one for my CW9. Then I was trying to figure out if I could make it heavier... Tungsten! Tungsten would be twice the weight and actually be harder and stronger than steel. I found a company that makes them for competition Glocks to reduce felt recoil.

It took me a while to machine my magazine baseplate, and I am finally getting them anodized today, so I hope I can finish this guide rod a little quicker. ;)

Muggsy,

Completely agree on functionality and practicality. But to use the vehicle analogy again, Will my crapped up, dirty, road tarred F-150 get me there? Yup, but I feel so much better when it's washed, waxed and shiny.

That's cool!....please update when you finish and get some range time.
If it would reduce muzzle flip and help with FU shots it might be worth a little extra weight.

I bought a PM9 for its light weight, the last thing for me that I want to do now is add stuff to it to make it heavier. Port the slide kand barrel and just be done with it. no amopunt of weight can do what a good porting job can do, IMO. Jusst sayin

course I realize ur talking about a one peace guide rod like on the cw series over the captive guid rods of the PM and cm series

I always figured the checkered end version could be used as a meat tenderizer in a pinch. And they are wicked cool looking too.

I'm with Tinman, not a reason in the world you can't look cool doing whatever it is your doing. I got a chrome air horn and might get some trick wheel covers for my riding lawn mower. Looking cool is job #1. Always.

^^^For a minute there I thought you were going to say, the chair^^^^^

Chrome air horn and trick wheel covers would look fantastic! The air horn would definitely get people out of your way at the gun shows.

I used to have a little kids siren mounted on it. Had 3 different siren choices. It would be real cool on a power chair. Too hard to move and hit the button in a manual chair.

I want the gun mounted on that chair. I have a cooler chair to hang it on. I'll send you my address. Maybe I could put a towel over it or something so the brass wouldn't see it. No firearms for office pukes, don't ya know?

So does the mini gun have a stainless steele guide rod then? :19:

I don't plan on picking up a tungsten guide rod for my CW9 even if someone make em'. Can't be cheep.

Just a cool idea, I wonder if it would change the way it shoots. It may make the gun feel off balance -nose heavy.

Totally agree with you there. But overall, with a tungsten rod, the CW9 will still be lighter than a K9, but it might make it feel a little smoother. If I bought a PM or CM to have a small light gun, I wouldn't necessarily want to add weight. I might also make a high strength aluminum one, which will only be 1/3 the weight.

Dang! I just looked at the price for Durable Tungsten, and boy is it expensive! Over $100 per foot! I'll stick with stainless and maybe make an aluminum one to try out.
