Well, I got my new CM9 on Wednesday and put about 240 rounds through it today.
It is a sweet shooter, much less recoil and more controllable than I would have expected for such a small weapon. It is also quite accurate (when you do your part and if you're not too tired or sore after about the 200th shot...). I fired at 7 and 10 yards and usually obliterated the bull.
- Used several different kinds of ammo, including FMJ, flat nosed, and hollow point. All seemed to function well.
- I used both a 6 round and 7 round magazine and both functioned well. I usually loaded up to the max 6+1 and 7+1 for the test.
- One stovepipe at round 60
- Two FTF, but these were on my own underpowered handloads at rounds 150 and 160 or so. The problem was the slide stop engaged full rearward instead of moving forward into battery. Racking the slide rearward forcefully loaded the rounds and they otherwise loaded and functioned normally.
- All commercial American ammo functioned well. The pistol seemed to like the hotter rounds.
- At the end of the session I ran 3 mags of Russian Golden Bear. Although they fed and functioned well, the slide did not engage the slide stop on the empty magazine at the end of 2 of the 3 strings. It was pretty dirty by this time, so it may have either been that or perhaps the rounds were a bit underpowered, which is how they felt when fired. They didn't seem to have much ooomph!
- I limp wristed, fired left handed, and in the end was shooting with a cramped motion and flinching badly because of an open blister... but the CM9 just kept on ticking despite my gyrations
All in all, I am very pleased with it. As I said, it's a great little shooter! When carrying it, I will stick to commercial ammo, of course, and I expect no trouble. Now, I'm off to nurse my trigger finger blister...
